Well, it is a tough job but the philadelphia Streets Department says it is making headway clearing all of the snow. Friday was the second full day of snow removal operations. Plows wade down with salt spent the day covering a lot on the ground there. There are still some unplowed residential shale streets, though, still some people tell Eyewitness News there are happy with what they see. I think it is great. Im very happy with it, you know, the day that it was falling, it was very hard getting up the hill. But once that snow stopped falling, they cleared everything up. Now, if you live on an unplowed residential street, philadelphia wants to hear from, just call 311. It is a tougher clean up job at the jersey shore. People working to clear the streets there had to deal with high winds, which made the job even more difficult. On thursday, margate got 16 inches of snow, although some say it looks like they got whole lot more than that. Thats because there is no place to put the snow. So the winds piles it up. Then we come down with our plows and push it to the side. Basically just moving the same snow from place to place. Until it gets warm enough to melt. Now, the clean up will continue throughout the weekend with windchills that make it feel well below zero. Chelsey kushner report. As temperatures in southwest florida continue to drop below average, experts are scrambling to rescue stunned sea further. They get real lethargic and can move. The near freezing temperatures are putting a strain on sea life leaving turtles floating helplessly. The turtles are not used to this. And because the reptile, because cold blooded, their met metabolic demands is shutting down and getting little stranded and disoriented as a consequence. Still the cold snap started wildlife officers rescued more than 230 turtles, they say their bod guess into survival mode and shutdown, boaters like mike white, are on the lookout. Kind of crazy but i think it is just one of those things that Mother Nature does, it protects the animals, and as boaters we just need to be hypervigilant. Florida fish and wildlife released the warning to boaters to watch out for turtles floating on the water or washing up on shore, and also watch to man tees who huddle together. So, as this is mainly going to be a problem for areas down the shore, where we received some of the higher snow totals , and High Temperatures are only going to be in the teens today. Now, lets talk current temps. Right now, 9 degrees, in philadelphia, that snow pack, kind of acting as refrigerator cross the region, along with clear skies, temperatures huge , go right down. 8 degrees currently in wilmington, six in reading, six in lancaster, seven in allentown, 2 degrees below zero currently in the poconos. Winds, told you, coming out of the west, this is sustained, so not even looking at gusts just yet. Sustained around 20 Miles Per Hour at phl. 12 Miles Per Hour in wilmington. Sixteen in allentown. Seventeen in the poconos. You can find all of that in that windchill equation, and this is what it actually feels like outside. Dangerous cold, and dangerous windchills. Feels like 10 degrees below zero in philadelphia. This is why we have a windchill advisory, and that remains in effect all the way through 10 00 sunday morning. Eleven below in allentown, feels like 23 degrees below zero in the poconos, ten below reading, ten below in lancaster, down the shore, feeling like seven below in Atlantic City, also, seven below in wildwood. So, through the of throughout the day today, we will continue to deal with subzero windchills. Dangerous cold by 9 00 right around 10 degrees. And in center city. Thirteen by noon. Still feeling sub zero, as we head into the 3 00 hour, that bitter sunshine really kick being in, High Temperature only around about 17 degrees and region wide looking at the high temps in the teens. Thirteen is the forecast high in allentown, 14 in reading, of course, feeling much colder when you factor in the winds. Forecasting high only around 3 , down the shore, 16, Atlantic City, right around 19 degrees for that forecast High Temperature today, in wildwood , but those numbers really dont even matter, because when you factor in the winds it, just feels so much colder out there. Storm scan3, painting very quiet picture. We have mostly clear skies. Were going to stay dry throughout the day today. Also, into tonight. Really throughout the rest of the weekends. Then things kind of start to change monday, we will cover that, as well. Frigid, dangerous windchills today. High temperature only around 17 degrees. And as we head into the overnight hours tonight, into sunday morning, im forecasting low temperature right around 1 degrees. If that verifies, thats going to break the current standing record low temperature tour of four that was set originally back in 2014. So, record low temperatures will be in jeopardy when we wake up tomorrow morning. But, there is some light on the horizon, warmer temperatures on the horizon, as well. By monday, finally making it above freezing, 44 tuesday, 39 on wednesday, so, calling it a slow warming trend. High pressure remains in control, watching the system that will be headed our way as we make it into monday afternoon, monday evening, that could bring us a wintery mix. Our Vittoria Woodill shows us the winter fountain. You may have seen them. But what are they . No idea. Good grief. I was wondered if there are People Living inside that. It looks like something from space neighbor. A big igloo. Are you saying that just because youre freezing . I think could be. Well the cold weather has something to do with them. They are the winter fountains, the centerpieces of the parkways centennial celebration. I mean, we want people to get out of their cars or to walk straight up to the domes, all four of them, and experience them. What did it feel like . I dont know. Solid, though, definitely solid. Definately solid. Hollow in there. It is hole flow. Executive i have director of the Parkway Council judy rogers says these four metaphoral stand 26 feet wide, were created by artist jennifer steincamp inspired by Ben Franklins electrical research, the parkways fountains, and the parkway itself. The intent was to activate the parkway during a time of day, and a time of year, when there arent as many people wandering around.
