That backboard is shatter proof so elijah can dunk the ball as hard as he wants. That is all for sports im leslie van arsdal have a great day. And still to come this morning right here on Eyewitness News, dna tests on the family pet, yes, that exists, we have got one pet, that went right through it. And Carroll Erickson is here with Eyewitness News Carroll Erickson is here, with dominic, who is an employee here at cbs3 and brought his dog duke back on the show. Yes, dominic so glad to see you. It was back in april we were doing segment. You were the production assistant. You saw a dog i had on the set and you fell in love with chew y. Lets she you chewy back in april. Okay. When you see this, what do you think. I think wow, i cant believe how much bigger he got his physical appearance changed and his behavior started to change, rapidly and we needed to get, figure out what the truth was. The truth came through dna, what did he weigh then. He weighed 27pounds there. How about no. About a hundred pound now and it has only been about six months. So, you adopted him. He was a couple months old, 27o getty guess you got the dna test why did you do that. Well, we got him because he started eyeing up our fence and thinking he can clear it and jump it. And he could. Exactly. He was reaching, you know, up to the dinner table his head and we are like he is growing so fast. For safety concerns we were like we should figure out how big he will get to make change s around our house hold. Like a higher fence. Higher fence, you know, maybe even build a bigger dinner table because he could have din year we did. Your only other dog was a yorkie so you didnt have experience with big dogs no. You get the dna test what did it show. It showed that he was 50 percent american stafford terrier which is a form of pit bull. We found out we suspect he was great dane about 12 percent so his hind legs just kept getting bigger, muscular. Even though he was considered a shepherd mix when you got him from the pennsylvania spca, right here off of our show, and he does have shepherd in him. Yes, about 30 percent. So that has us, as a factor. Right. But i think the take away on all this is even siblings can look different because they will get a little piece of dna different from the other siblings and same thing with all of these, litters, and their appearance can change because his appearance change from when he was younger to now being older. He has a curly tail there. His tail change and it change color started to get black and started, some of his fur started to change, his face got darker and just incredible to see changes and new we are seeing the results. It is a fun, neat way, but you have got a whole bunch of mixed breed in the ancestry i did one on marvin, 60 percent they could in the tell if i could not did one of these they knew he had couple breed but small percentages but this doggies three different breed. Yes. Great dane, German Shepherd and the american stafford terrier. Speaking of animals at pennsylvania spca let me show you a couple, i love this one alcatras is a fiveyear old male Domestic Short Hair tab i cat absolutely darling. Came to the pennsylvania spca from another shelter and meets his family. I love orange cats. I have an orange cat. Thinks taffy, one yearold male, orange Domestic Short Haircut, thanks to the pennsylvania spca, very handsome. You know i love dogs and we have got this dog full height so unlike dominic who got a dog that was a puppy and became really big, threeyear old pity mix pulled from the city shelter and sweetest dog that you could possibly ever get. How did you guys do your dna testing. So, we did, it was a swamp test they did him two swabs and saliva, and right in the cheek. Ten seconds no longer and results came in two weeks and they showed us, they break it down with personalities and experience. They have been accurate. Very accurate. They run for 80 for these cheek swaps for 200 and you can see genetic problems that your dog may be susceptible too. Something to check out, we love them anyway, so whatever they are. Help you take care of him better. That is for sure. Remember you can adopt any pet at spca erie avenue headquarters 350 erie avenue. Carroll, dom, thanks very much hes ready to be done. Merry christmas. We will be right back at th shots fired, at a patrol car in Cumberland County a Police Officer narrowly escapes being hit by a bullet there. We will have the latest in the search for a shooter.
