"eyewitness news" reporter alicia nieves reports now from millville. >> reporter: at least two dozen investigators and police officers were out here earlier for hours trying to understand what led up to an officer' pass troll car being shot out. here's what we know so far. the call apparently came in around 7:00 o'clock this evening that an officer's car again was shot at. the patrol car was near the intersection of second and 59 streets here in millville. it is unclear at this time how many times the police patrol car was hit but evidence markers on scene show what appeared to be several bullet casings in the street. there were initial concerns that an officer was also shot an officer who may have been in the patrol car but authorities have just confirm that an officer was not shot at or injured. investigators are not saying much more about this incident at this time or what led up to it. the good news again although a police patrol car was shot at here in millville no officer was injured new jersey cumberland county, alicia nieves, cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> well scores of travelers are avoiding the roads this weekend. "eyewitness news" at philadelphia international airport earlier today. things were just starting to pick up at the security check in lines. meanwhile eager family members shared hugs in the rivals section. one traveler traveling home to california told us that the airport was surprisingly quiet today. it's my first time going back with my girl friend. it will be really exciting. >> we were surprised because we thought we were going get here here and the airport was going to be crazy. it's been pleasant the surprising. looking at secure it looks like not big deal. >> air travel is up in our area some 80,000 people will fly out of the region bite end of this holiday season. to get the most out of your travel experience, at philadelphia international airport, consider some of these shoppers making their last minute dash to stores across new jersey. on super saturday morning we found hoards of people just trying to beat the holiday rush. many folks took advantage of extended holiday hours to complete their wish lists. according to the national retail federation more than half of all consumers plan to finish their shopping today. >> needed to get some things for the great rush is also known as panic saturday. according to the experts it's usually men that are making those last minute purchases. and it was quite a super saturday down at the italian market in south philly today. look at this line. folk leap up as always at bakeries like isgro's pastry stocking outpatient their favorite sweets. they kept this holiday tradition going for more than 100 years. several shops will also be open tomorrow at the italia i tal mat ninth and kristen streets much as you make your last minute purchases keep in mind many stores will have modified holiday hours on christmas eve. among them, k mart will be open 8am until 10:00 p.m. or midnight. depending oh and the location. walmart will only be open until 6:00 p.m. and target will keep its doors open until times at your convenience there. now last minute shopping it was put on hold this afternoon at a local mall after it was evacuated. this all happened at the springfield mall in delaware county around 3:30. firefighters were called to the mall after black smoke was seen coming from a pizza shop inside. they believe the smoke was caused by agrees fire possibly in the restaurant's kitchen. the mall was evacuated for under an hour as a safety precaution. luckily no one was injury. a four-year-old girl is recovering tonight after being shot in drive by shooting in southwest philadelphia. the shooting happened about 11:00 last night on 59th street and springfield avenue. officers say the victim was in her father's arms as he walked down the street when a gunman fired shots from a passing car. the little girl was hit in the leg. police are still looking for a red car and at leave four suspects in this case. we also now have update for you on standoff that happened yesterday between a gunman and officers in northampton county. police say the shooter killed his mother, then killed himself hours later. officers were called to home in bethlehem at about 1:30 in the afternoon. that standoff lasted for more than eight hours. no officers were hurt. investigators say the gunman lived at the home with his grandmother. the cause of the shooting is still under investigation. water it's now been restore to several properties tonight after water main break in northern liberties this was 12-inch main that open up at 10:00 hit this morning on the 100 block of west girard avenue. the intersection was shut down while crews work to try to quickly remove excess water. officials say several properties lost water while others took on water in their basements. >> 10 properties without utter water. i believe there's probably eight with water in the cellar. look i said our pump crews are pumping those water out. >> that energy has since reopened. the fire department also [ laughter ] >> she's brushing her shoulders off. yes, she is. >> i feel like that's a little lauren casey back if the day good i was definitely not like that at all. >> yeah, right. i was totally like that. >> exactly. >> yes, she was. believe me. >> she still is. >> and she still is. here to bring us our all important weekend forecast, christmas day forecast maybe santa could provide snow. >> santa could see snowflake. the reindeer could get snowflakes on them. today was all sogginess. mild temperatures. didn't feel like 60 but it was 60. >> was it? in it was. i hope you enjoyed it. the day is over. >> that's over. it is definitely over. we're going downhill from now. but 60 degrees was the high temperature in philly today. even though we had dreary conditions our normal high temperature 43. so nowhere near that. but over the last couple of hours, temperatures have been plummeting. yes, if you haven't been outside the last couple of hours it's going to feel much, much different as we get live look at center city philadelphia. 44 degrees northerly winds now in the back side of a cold fro front. feeling like 39 degrees at this hour and temperatures have been dropping all across the region. we're now at 40 degrees in allentown. 30 in mount pocono we're down to 48 degrees in wildwood with temperatures that will continue to rapidly fall as this colder air to our north and west continues to barrel its way into the delaware valley. behind that cold front that came through earlier in the day, and we now have some wind chill temperatures to contend with. still breezy conditions the winds have shifted feeling like 33 in allentown. feeling like teens in mount pocono and feeling like upper 30s right now in millville and overnight tonight, we'll fall all the way back to 38 degrees. breezy conditions under a partly cloudy sky then for our day tomorrow, looking great if you have travel plans. get out and about, partly sunny and cooler high temperatures around average at 44 degrees. and rain was a story of the day today. picking up close to an inch in bethlehem. .80 of an inch in pottstown. wayne picking up thee quarters of an inch and well over half an inch today in hatboro. but the last of the rain has moved offshore and the last couple of hours now dry conditions. we're nothing to see up wind we'll keep it dry through the daytime hours tomorrow. but then as we head late tomorrow evening we'll see this area of light rainfall moving in across much of the area. a mick precipitation far to the north and west. now we can see that transition over to a wintry mick early monday morning. i think i-9 i-95 core and immede philadelphia suburbs that transition is over to all snowfall lehigh valley poconos. we can see a brief period of snowfall across portions of the area mainly philadelphia and suburbs north and west early christmas morning. but before it all starts to quickly clear on out. so this is a break down of precipitation type. mainly snow up towards berks county lehigh valley poconos. we'll see that rain and wintry mix and then a brief transition over to snow potentially early christmas morning. mainly all rain down the shore we can see a brief period of some sleet mixing in but precipitation totals are going to be on the lower end for the higher elevations we'll likely have a white christmas in the poconos with certainly more than an inch on the ground on christmas day potential there for the lehighly have ally northampton county, lehigh counsel he county maybe could see a white christmas. elsewhere a dusting at best throughout the snowfall chance. for your christmas a morning snow shower lingering and sunny and windy. getting cold. 37 degrees for the birds game monday evening wind chill em temperatures will be in the teens. going to be a cold one. and then actual air temperatures will be in the teens as we head into the second half of the week waking up to 18 on wednesday morning. 12 on thursday morning. look at that. nice stretch of 20s there.
