"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live at the scene in port richmond with the very latest, justin. >> reporter: nicole, neighbors say thinks not a block known for violence let alone murder and now they are dealing with both. a combination of the crimes that took the life of the young mother and this morning they cannot figure out who would want to kill her. this is video, we have pictures of her and her family here. that is the victim identified by neighbors as stephanie, they say this photo was taken lassies ter. young mother lives her with her father, her daughter and her boyfriend on the 3,000 block of aramingo. she has lived here they say all of her life. police say she was alone with her baby at around 11:00 p.m. last night on thursday when someone made their way in to their home. they a say this person went upstairs to a bedroom where the victim was with her baby this person shot the young mother but did leave the baby unharmed. neighbors watched that woman grow up over years and say her loss this morning is like losing family. lets take a listen. she grew up with my niece. she grew up with a lot of people around here. she grew up into a beautiful woman. beautiful little girl. started a a new career, graduated with school was working in a dental office and now all this. >> reporter: neighbors and stephanie's family are talking to detectives at this hour. we also know that they say they saw a black man and a grad hoodie heading south on aramingo. that is one lead police are working. but again, nicole, a young mother shot and killed, two-year old daughter in the bedroom with her luckily unharmed. we are live, justin finch, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> justin, thank you. a man is shot dead in the hunting park section overnight. shortly after 1:30 police say an argument broke out leading to gunfire near a closed playground on the 1600 block of staubb street. a man in his 20's was shot in the neck and chest and taken to temple university hospital where he was pronounced dead. there is no word on any arrests at this time. police are stepping up patrols in the north philadelphia neighborhood where a five-year old was taken from her home and then beaten. police say sometime in the middle will of the night, intruder got through window of her home on north hutch instant street on tuesday. he brought her outside, beat her up and then took off. the little girl's mother and neighbors found her in the backyard bleeding and semi conscious. >> something i will never forget. i thought that was not my daughter back there but a lifeless child back there, you know, so i went into an immediate state of panic. >> that little girl suffered several bruises and head injuries, some pictures were too graphic to show on television. so far no arrests have been made. 50:00 56789 case of the legionnaires disease is under investigation at west chester university. university employee tested positive for that infection. testing found higher then acceptable levels of legionella bacteria in the cooling towers of eight buildings on campus, that includes student union, library and science center. coming up 59:30 "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao will tell us about what is being done about that situation at west chester university. just to bring you up to date legionnaires has symptoms sim is lar to many forms of pneumonia so it can be hard to diagnosis at first. these symptoms include cough, shortness of breath, high fever and muscle aches. so something to look out for. legionnaires out break in new york is under investigation there. forty-six people in the bronx have gotten sick, two people have died from this, including this man five two-year old james rouse, a music teacher. a cooling tower at an apartment building and hospital have tested positive for that bacteria. french helicopter is scouring waters around the indian ocean island have of reunion in hopes of spotting more plane debris. part of the searching for an escape prisoner suspect of murdering a woman just minutes after getting a way from jail. thirty-eight year-old robert, ran from prison early yesterday morning while delivering meals to other inmates. it is believe crisman murdered a woman and took off in her maroon 1999 chevy pickup truck. he was behind bars on drug and theft charges but had no history of violent crimes. he was's
