Investigators are looking at a piece of plane debris that could be from malaysian flight mh370. The plane vanished from a flight from malaysia to beijing t. Debris was found in the western indian ocean. They said they were almost certain it belongs to a boeing 777. We have the latest. Wendy, good morning. Good morning, allison. Australias deputy minister said a number of stamps on the debris could identify if its from the missing airliner. Its not a serial number but could be a maintenance number. An investigation is under way on reunion island where the piece of an aircraft wing was found yesterday. The debris appears to be from a boeing 777, the same as the maylation Airlines Flight mh 370. The wing is known as the flaperon marked with serial numbers. There will be markings that tell yes, its from a 777 and mh370. Reporter its the first possible breakthrough. The plane was flying from kuala lumpur when it vanished with 239 people on board. Loved ones hope it is the first step toward closure. Most of the families i just hope that we get to some place where we can start saying ah now we know. Reporter since the 777 was introduced in 1994 the plane is the only one that ever disappeared over the sea, as well as south of the equator. This begins a search that tells us somewhere near this potentially, we should find other bits and pieces of the aircraft. Reporter they have focused efforts off the coast of australia, more than 2,000 miles from reunion island. A team is traveling to the island. It will take about two days to determine if the debris is from flight 370. Thank you wendy. Ahead on cbs this morning, we will speak with cbs aviation expert captain sully sullenberger. An officer was indicted on a murder charge. The video shows what happened. A warning, the video you are about to see might be disturbing. Take your keys out. The prosecutor called the shooting, quote, senseless and says the officer purposely killed samuel. He will be arraigned today. Its the latest fatal confrontation between police and an unarmed black suspect. Last night the activist group, black lives matter held a rally against police violence. We have more on how a routine traffic stop turned deadly. Reporter university of Cincinnati Police officer surrendered to authorities wednesday. Hes being indicted for the murder of 43yearold samuel. Shot dead during a traffic stop on july 19th. This is the most asinine move i have seen a Police Officer make. Totally unwarranted. It was its an absolute tragedy. In the year 2015 that anyone would behave in this manner. The prosecutor saw the video. It shows him pulling him over for a missing front license plate. He hands him a bottle of gin that was in the vehicle and says he doesnt have his drivers license on him. He asks for him to get out of the car. He restarts the vehicle. He orders him to stop and fires one shot. People dont get shot for a traffic stop unless they are violent toward the Police Officer. And he wasnt. Reporter the Prosecutor Says the officers claim that the car dragged him was not true. He should have never been a Police Officer. Without the video they wouldnt have proof. The officer broke down in tears. Obviously, hes devastated as am i. Im not shocked there was an indictment. A murder indictment astounded me. Firefighters in california have their hands full. More than a dozen fires are burning in the state fueled by high winds and temperatures expected to last until the weekend. Overnight, one of the fires exploded. The wragg fire in napa county grew to more than 4. 5 square miles in six hours. Its unclear how many buildings are threatened or residents evacuated.
