excessive heat warning. that will go in effect at noontime, all the way until 8:00 monday. then areas in orange pretty much everywhere except the shore and the poconos, will be under heat advisory, both areas, whether you're under the warning or the advisory, still going to be seeing heat index values over 100 degrees that's what it will feel like with the humidity, actual air temperatures mid 90s so be sure to drink plenty of water if you plan to be outside today. try to avoid strenuous activity, try to stay in the ac if you k there are the temperatures right now mid upper 70s for the warm supports, still somewhat comfortable, mount pocono, allentown coming in at 68 degrees at this hour, in the suburbs warming up nicely low to mid 70s already. storm scan3 nice and quiet judge you few clouds rolling on through but we keep things dry, check out these temperatures hour by hour, 8:00, 80 noontime, already at 90, looks like we will reach the high temperature by mid afternoon around 3:00. 95 degrees, so here's what to expected to, the heat warning heat advisory, lots of sunshine, high humidity. i'll let you know when there is relief in site coming up in a few minute. >> breaking news again this morning in south philadelphia. dozen of residents are displaced after fire rips through vacant warehouse, and quickly spreads to surround homes. cherri gregg from our sister station "kyw news radio" 1060 is live at the scene this morning with details good morning, cherry. >> reporter: good morning, todd yes, 17 people have taken shelter and more have been evacuated here, near juniper and snyder, as you can see, firefighters are still working to deal with hot spots. it took firefighters about two hours to pretty much get this fire under control, it began at a 3-story vacant building, on juniper street where i understand that there has been some construction underway. fire commissioner, derrick sawyer, spoke to reporters just shortly ago. he said that there had been collapse from the second floor to the first floor and the major challenge for his firefighters was heat and hot spots annex posh your. luckily, the firefighters were able to rotate, this was three alarm fire and 28 vehicles were brought in to play as they dealt with this fire. four homes were impacted with damage to the exterior of the home. lots of smoke damage. folks have been asked to leave from those homes of course and the entire block searching out the block of snyder was also evaculated. now, i understand, resident here have been sent first to south philadelphia high school, but the generators there was not working so they're currently asked to take shelter over at philadelphia high school at the performing arts. i understanded there have been no injuries, and the fire fight verse been working and have actually made sure that this situation was not as bad as it could have been. live in south philadelphia, cherri gregg, "kyw news radio" for cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> cherry, thank you very much. >> new developments in the murder after drexel graduate found dead in her apartment. philadelphia police are questioning a person of interest in this case. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson has more on the investigation. >> reporter: among the other memorial items scattered along the stoop where she lived and died the sign says believe there is good in the world. neighbors say since thursday, that is tough to ask. >> she was love and peace okay, she was love and peace. that's how i knew her. >> the way neighbor keith new jasmine wright is out. >> investigators say that's happening as we speak. saturday night police announced they're questioning a person of interest now in police custody. more than 48 hours earlier wright recent masters graduate from drexel university, was found beaten and strangled to death in the corner bedroom of her own apartment. police sent to the 200 block of south 50th street say there was no forced entry leading investigators to believe the murderer may have been someone she new. little comfort for friends family neighbors now trying to believe in those words on the porch. >> judge? who? how this did it? i don't know. all i know we are miss ago dear neighbor who was very, very kind. >> again the news from saturday night police announcing they have a person of interest in custody. police have not identified that person. and they have not announced arrest in this case. reporting from philadelphia police headquarters, i'm steve patterson, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> in two of the four suspect caught on camera, during attempted home invasion in west mt. airy, are now under arrest. alone so wallace, reggie read, charged with burglary and other charges, the crime happened on the 500 block of vernon avenue. police say the victim opened front door after hearing a knock and quickly shut it. when he saw one of the suspects with a shotgun. the search continues for the two other suspect. >> and demands for justice continue following violent arrest of drug suspect caught on camera in east germantown, family friends of tyree carol marched along locust avenue. they say philadelphia police officers used excessive force back in april want carol released and the officers punishment police say carol fought the officers, and the investigation is underway. >> a shocking admission during with him. he also admit to funneling money to some of the women through his agent. >> more tragedy from last week's shooting rampage in chattanooga, tennessee, fifth victim died saturday. he was a navy sailor, shot during the attack of two military facilities. kenneth craig has more on this service members and new details on what investigators have discovered about the gunman. >> the show in out of their homes fire officials say, the fire broke out in a 3-story home under renovation in the 2,000 block of south juniper street around 3:00 a.m. as precaution, an entire 1300 block of snyder has been evacuated. firefighters remain on the scene there right now as they continue to douse some hot spots. justin joining us again for look at weather and today we're seeing the hot and muggy wet their really so far this summer we've avoided to large extent. >> actually only seen ten days of 90 degrees temperatures, not bad averages for the whole summer 21, the whole year, yes, about halfway there, pretty much where we should be. ac going to be cranking the next couple every days, there go the electric bills try to stay cool this afternoon. one spot will be up in the poconos. where we could find temperatures little cooler there, at least those guys aren't under a heat advisory, so, that's going to be good place to be in the mountains but you go, live look, jack frost, big boulder nice shot of the lake, maybe bring out the boat, kayak, paddle boarding pretty good conditions up there. as far as the weather goes, still, somewhat on the hot side. all right, let's take you to our weather headlines talk about what's happening again later today the heat warning will kick in we are dealing with that high humidity. it will make it feel over 100 degrees, and then we will deal with couple of storm chances over the next couple of days, not big chance, but we will talk about that in just a bit. there are the actual temperatures, upper 60s mount pocono allentown upper 70s this hour at philadelphia international airport. it is warm start, south jersey near the shore points, 72 degrees in wildwood. let's check out those beach temperatures right now. nice little breeze, off the water ocean at 73. so our air temperatures are pretty much sim floor what the water temp is right now rehoboth beach coming in at 74. we are sitting in a tropical air mass, if we can look at that, by checking out the dew point temperaturement look at that mid seven's you don't see that whole lot. even in the middle of summer. so this is indicating high moisture content in the air. you can feel it as soon as you step outside. today will feel insufferable, not much better tomorrow, still on the oppressive side. finally by tuesday certainly wednesday, we will drop that humidity, and it will feel better, but the next couple every days little rough out there if you don't like the heat humidity, very quiet on storm scan3 maybe few passing clouds around this morning we could see pop up shower or storm, later this afternoon, but here is the set up. under hazy, hot humid air mass temperatures feeling like 100 degrees this afternoon, with air temps in the 90s still hot humid for monday, 90's once again there will be cold front that moves through, could touch off a shower or storm monday afternoon, and then second front comes through on tuesday, bringing more shower and storm chan cents the front that will push out humidity, so by the middle of the week we'll feel the big change. so through today a loft sunshine, could be stray shower coming in, some spots there is afternoon. don't cancel outdoor plans. tonight again around midnight or so could be scattered shower storm monday afternoon, same deal. it is hot humid typical summer like stuff pop up showers or storms. inland locations around 100 degrees, maybe even hire than that today. relief you will feel it down toward the shore points, tomorrow still the same deal, feeling like 100 maybe even 102, 103 on monday afternoon. here is your shore forecast, lots of sunshine, wear the sun block, uv index hi, nine out of ten ocean looks comfortable at 73. risk current low lifeguards on duty. forecast today mostly sunny hot, humid 95 degrees, feeling like over 100 tonight warm muggy chance for some thunderstorms later on, 78, that's it, for the overnight low temperature, here is the extended temperature, 93 monday isolated shower or storm, better chance for scattered shower or storm tuesday, still around 90 degrees. and finally wednesday we drop the humidity, still warm, at 88. then some relief by the end of the upcoming week, thursday, friday, mid 80s pretty much average. the shore temperatures looking nice this week, we kick them off in the upper 80s sunday, today, and monday, and then by the ends of the week lower 80s, so typical summer like stuff as we head into late july. back to you. >> seasonally warm. rare summer storm bridges rain thunder lightning to southern california. and that forced some beaches to close there saturday. about 70 miles of los angeles county beaches shutdown as well as the popular santa monica pier. storm knocked out power to about 10,000 people. and thunderstorm off long island, new york where teenage girl somehow managed to survive getting caught by lightning. carly was power washing her dirt bike during the storm. >> i only heard thunder. i am thought it would be fine. then big bolt of lightning that hit. i guess somewhere near the power washer. i was holding the wand t blew it out of my hand. all i saw was this big light of white and blue, like in my face and touchdown by my leg. >> carly was check out of the hospital. the doctor gave her the all clear. on the cbs-3 health watch this morning, can you imagine not being able to eat or drink fluids because you can't swallow properly? well now there is new treatment for the problem health reporter stephanie stahl has the exclusive story on the first patient treated. >> drinking water used to causal kind of trouble for 26 year old maurice christian who works in philadelphia. food, even something like a banana, was worse. >> everything that i ate came up. liquids, water you name it, ready for a scorcher today. justin drabick with eyewitness weather, justin, we expect these type of temperatures during this time of year, but still, it doesn't make it that much easier. >> dangerous heat we are dealing with, mid 90s for the air temperature humidity everybody says oh, not the heat the humidity. yes, that will be today. it will make it feel like over 100 degrees, maybe even up to 105 today. pretty rough. so you want to take it easy today. stay cool again. be indoors in the air-conditioning, if you have to head outside. try to tape out of the direct sunlight, and drink plenty morning 3-story home goes up in flames and forces dozens of residents out of their home. cherri gregg, 1060 live with the details, good morning again, cherry. >> good morning todd. yes, 17 people taken to shelter and more have been evacuated here near juniper and snyder avenue where this three-story vacant property caught fire damaging four nearby homes now emergency officials were alert today trash fire, around 3:30 a.m. this morning with heavy fire on the first and second floor of this vacant building. firefighters then began battling the blaze and the second story collapse on to the first floor where fire damaging as i mention nearby homes here along snyder avenue. the heat that they were dealing with forced them to rotate fire and had several fire damage. >> exposure, wanted to make sure we save those properties f not, we would have lost four homes today. because of the good work, they have minor heat and smoke damage. we didn't want those homes to be destroyed. >> i understand this building was under construction, possibly eight apartment buildings ants, built here, fire commissioner, derrick sawyer, says they do not know what started the fire. at this point that is still un investigation. i did speak to a man who says said he spoke to police, about what he saw fire commissioner derrick sawyer says, that he will be bringing in the fire marshall as well as atf "eyewitness news". cherry, thank you very much. >> also, developing now authorities say they are questioning a person of interest for the murder after recent drexel graduate. police say 27 year old jasmine wright found dead inside her apartment on south ' street. autopsy result are pending but police tell it is appears that she was beaten and strangled. last month wright graduated when masters agree from drexel's school of public health. a navy petty officer wounded in the shooting rampage in chattanooga tennessee, has died from his injuries. family members identify the officer as randall smith. he's now the fifth victim of thursday's attack, muhammad opened fire at two military locations, and he shot seven people including four marines, who died that day. the gunman was then shot and killed by police, a marine recruiter who was shot in the leg, and a police officer shot in the ankle are recovering this morning. >> crews still battling brush fire, rare summer storm there has helped crews knock down some of the blaze, and major highway has reopened, after fire destroyed dozens of cars, and stranded motorists for hours. cbs news correspondent kara evans has more. >> the cars that caught fire there burning there in the middle of your screen. >> to see so many cars and trucks on fire, people fleeing from the flames, and the aftermath, it is amazing no one was hurt. but there were plenty of close calls. >> you can feel it, like my neck. >> igor says he and others grabbed what they could and ran. >> is in a point you thought you might not be able to get away? >> yes, first time i look up, i saw the flame was 40 feet from me, and all do you is just run like hell and hope it doesn't catch up. >> once he was out of harms way, he shot this video as others made their escape, he was hauling hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of new cars. this is what's left. >> the fire broke out friday afternoon in california. >> there goes the drop. >> art santos was driving to california from houston. his car was badly damaged. >> it was chaos all we could do was try to run up the mountain and get away from it. >> the fast moving flames then spread to nearby rural neighborhoods. at least three homes were destroyed. >> strong winds then fanned another wild fire, in a rug mountain area, few miles to the west. 300 campers had to be evacuated, all are safe. california officials have long warned of a long fire season. it is certainly arrived. >> there was smoke everywhere, just something you see out after magazine, never think that you are actually going to be in it. >> a light rain is now helping out firefighters, but on friday, it was small drones in the air near the fire, that halted the aerial operation for about 25 minute. there is still no word on exactly what caused this fire, but investigators may have determined where it started and they are focusing on area along the interstate right behind me. carter evanscb news. >> bachelorette outing in new york's wine country ends in tragedy. a limo and a pick-up truck collided leaving four members of a bridal party dead. the women were leaving a winery when the truck t-bonds the limo they were riding in. the bride and two other bridesmaids did survive that crash. the pick up driver is in the hospital. but under arrest for suspicion of dwi. back here in our area, four people are on a septa paratransit bus were injured when it collided with a car and flipped over in philadelphia's overbrook neighborhood. the crash happened at sixo and lansdowne at around 7:00 saturday morning. septa says the bus driver and the three passengers suffered minor injuries. eyewitnesses helped them out of the vehicle. >> i jumped into the vehicle and went straight to the front of the vehicle to help the driver. get all of the people out there to make sure everything is okay, make sure they was okay, stuff leaking from the truck but it was just oil, a lot of people nervous thinking it was gas. >> tow truck flipped the bus back onto its wheels, and the intersection was reopened. the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> and here is a scene out of the wild. captured on eyewitness cam in wildwood. kristin mar from lansdale was vacationing her family when she spotted this coyote running through the streets. this was at stanton road and pacific avenue in wildwood crest on thursday morning. mark said she talked to police and told coyotes live in the marches at the southern end of the island, and that there is no cause for alarm. they say coyotes are native to that area. but still quite a site. >> and happening now the 28th annual tour de shore. record breaking 2300 cyclist also signed up for this year's race. cyclist also about to take off from center city traveling through atlantic city this morning. the six a mile bike ride is in order to raise money for the children of fallen police officers and firefighters. this year, organizers are hoping to raise $800,000. good luck to them. and, also, happening today, it is national ice cream day. it couldn't have come certainly at better time when it is supposed to feel like 100 degrees outside today. to celebrate the day several shops are offering deals. at carvel, you can buy one get one free soft serve cone, any size any flavor. and at cold stone creamery, members of the my cold stone club can get a free ice cream with the creation of the purchase of one. and friendly's will gave you a free scoop of ice cream in a cup or cone when you buy one for a dollar 99. >> and also today, at the shore, you can head
