her life. reporting from nicetown tonight, i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". authorities are investigating a vaccine mix up at a clinic in a south jersey hospital, we know at least five children got the wrong vaccines and we have also learned $20,000 worth of vaccines were improperly refrigerated ape had to be destroyed. investigative reporter charlotte huffman has more. >> reporter: for 25 years shots were tossed, administered free actionvations not county's uninsured but county officials say no more. county win immunization clinic is shut down. >> we're just making sure we have put a lid on a negative aspects of this program. >> reporter: and county attorney michael mulligan says that the two registered nurse necessary charge have resign. the nurses mandiocas difficult and nicole johnson were no where to be found for a comment. after an a audit and county investigation found five children were given the wrong medications, and vaccines worth an estimated 20,000 you dollars, weren't refrigerated properly, deemed unsafe, and thrown out. in the past year, the shots for tots clinic vaccinated 22 people, five of them were children who received the wrong medications. they included two children who received expired vaccines, one child who received a vaccine despite being under the recommended age, one child who officials are still trying to determine what kind of vaccine the child received, and in what county officials are calling the most egregious case one, two-year old boy eaved is an excessive dose of the cervical cancer prevention vaccine gardasil. >> it is an inappropriate medication obviously for a two-year old and it was given in an adult dosage. gardasil administration to someone of tender years can present a problem with regard to neurologic development. >> reporter: the families have been notified and whether the children will be affected is not yet known. but the county has agreed to pay the medical bills to monitor the children, for the foreseeable future. this afternoon the memorial hospital released a statement saying that the hospital has no medical oversight offer the clinic, they only provide the space for the clinic to run
