The announcement comes days after newsom announced cuts or delays to Affordable Housing and homelessness programs to deal with the states budget deficit, governor gavin newsom worked with state and county leaders at cordillera Mental Health center in redwood city. The San Mateo County facility set to open a new expansion in a few months. The backdrop for the governor to announce the states expediting funding from proposition one, which aims to tackle the states homelessness crisis. 3. 3 billion on the notice of Funding Availability will go out. We will quickly approve those plans because we have a new task force and strike team around this breaking down all of the boxes. Voters narrowly approved the measure in march. In part, it authorizes the state to use 6. 4 billion in bonds to build housing and treatment beds for people experiencing serious Mental Health illnesses and addiction. Applications for the funding were set to open in the fall, but will now open in july for cities, counties and organizations to build or improve centers like this, prop one encourages counties to be ambitious about Behavioral HealthCare Services and to address the root causes of the many challenges our communities face. Cordillera has not received any prop one funding yet, but newsom used it as an example of what the state wants to see. Drc opposes Governor Newsoms Behavioral Health system reforms, which expand forced treatment using proposition one.
