They just opened the just one of Voting Centers here in Santa Clara County. But yes, political analystsc have said that they do expect lower voter turnout for this election. One of the big reasons is the president ial race. It is close to over with the clear frontrunners donald trump and President Biden. So ac lot of people might feel like their vote doesnt. Really count for that race. But there are other races on the ballot as well. Now, historic valley, we do see primary elections getting a lot of older voters, but there are still a lot of important local issues on the ballot that could getupeople to turn out. Today, weve been taking a look at voter turnout all over the bay area. Yesterday, there was a line of carsuin Alameda County with people dropping off their ballots. Some voters in San Francisco preferred going in to drop off their ballot at city hall so they could ask questions if needed. But a large percentage of voters choose to vote before today, i went around our building a few weeks ago. To make sure everyone was registered to vote, and i had registered cards in case they werent. I knocked on doors today to. Say, have you voted . Have yout voted. I want to make sure my neighbors go and vote. And im happy to say that the neighbors i spoke to are all registered, and all of them have voted and voted by mail. All here in Santa Clara County, e ballot that are getting a lot of attention. One is the congressional race to replace retiring representative anna issue. There are 11 candidates vying for that seat, including the former san jose mayor sam liccardo, Current Assembly member evan lowe and a current Santa Clara County supervisor, joe smith. Excuse. Now santa clara is the only city in california that currently elects a police chief. So thats an important one as well. Counties have 28 days to complete the official tabulation process. Mail in ballots will still be counted if theyre postmarked by tonight, and they have to arrive no later than onec week after today. Signatures on those ballots have to be verified. Officials must make sure the number of voters aligns with the voting location.
