The president saying it could have a major impact on every scientific field from climatology to science. As President Biden said, embracing science will help keep america competitive with the actions we take together can help protect peoples health. Theyre going to promote innovation, and were going to win the economic competition of the 21st century. In my humble opinion, the president also saying his administration will be making investments in Patient Safety initiative that will help develop new antibiotics and fight drug resistant bacteria. Well, new jersey senator bob menendez is free on bond this afternoon after pleading not guilty to those federal corruption charges. Menendez and his wife appeared together today before a federal judge there in new york city. Nadine menendez also pleaded not guilty. Federal prosecutors accused them of accepting gold bars. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, as well as a car. It was all allegedly in exchange for the senator using his influence to aid egypts government and interfere in criminal investigations. In the new jersey democrat says the money was from a personal savings account that he held in case of emergencies. If he decides he wants to go before a jury and force the government to prove its case and poke holes in it, he has every right to do that. Menendez is also rejecting calls from within his own caucus for him to resign. He was charged in 2015 in a similar but unrelated corruption case. If convicted in this case, menendez faces up to 45 years in prison. New at four a Bay Area Congress man has introduced a bill to address what he calls the student loan crisis. John garamendi, along with Pennsylvania Republican brian fitzpatl, are reintroducing a bill that would allow students with federal loans to refinance their debt. They say the average 2023 graduate will owe more than 37,000 in debt at interest rates, far higher than most other loans. The measure would also allow borrowers in certain medical fields to defer payments until completion of their program.
