South bay reporter Lamonica Peters is live now in gilroy with more. Lamonica the parents i spoke to say that their special Needs Children cant ride a bus for nearly an hour from gilroy to san jose. So theyre asking the district to allow them to stay at this school, which is much closer to home. Shes diagnosed with autism, still in diapers. So for her to be sitting down in a car longer than 45 minutes, that means that shes going to get peed. Soil and anything can happen. Some parents say theyre frustrated with Gateway School in gilroy and the Santa Clara County office of education. As of march this year. They say their special Needs Children can no longer attend gateway, a school they say was specifically designated for special needs students, middle schoolers and junior hires and High School Students can no longer be on that campus because they are sharing it with glenview that the campus backs up to. Julie, you said theyre not commenting. Is it a county decision . Lamonica or is it a School District decision to move these kids so far away . Honestly julie, im a little unclear about that. I got a statement from the office of educator that says they basically support the decisions that the district made. And then the district says that they dont comment on individual student placement, meaning these students that were here tonight. So im not really sure who is responsible for making the decision. Yeah, its so far away for them. All right. Lamonica peters reporting live tonight in the south bay. Thank you.
