The pair still haunted by what they experienced back home last week. And youre hoping that theyll get help, but there was no guarantee relatives, friends among the more than 100 that didnt make it out of lahaina. So its going to be continuous in terms of the grief, but also the support we can show the owners of hawaiian restaurant outer orbit in the mission, volunteering their space for the prep work. The fundraiser slated to take place on dolores and 18th from 5 to 6 on friday evening. Well be receiving ten dogs, two puppies and 11 kittens. Were really excited to welcome them. Marin humane among several area shelters. Busy preparing. This is where the doggies will come. Beds and tunnels for them to play in ready for their arrival on friday. Well also make sure that medically theyre doing okay and then we will find them forever homes and marin humane says they also plan to donate all of their adoption fees tied to those maui animal animals they receive back to maui humane. A staff member and a neighbor jumped into action to maui bird consern center when the wildfires erupted. Security footage from the San Diego Zoo wildlife alliance, which manages the sanctuary, shows the two people using a hose to try to keep the fire from spreading. A san jose Police Officer is in critical but stable condition after being shot while responding to a domestic call wednesday morning. The first thing that went through my mind is its most likely going to be an officer that was responding to Domestic Violence. Call the Us Department of justice reports that in 2018, over 30 of all assaults on Police Officers happened while responding to family disputes and bar fights. Domestic violence advocates say most victims call the police when they fear for their lives. We always instruct survivors to trust their gut feeling, and if they know they are not safe, then just to go ahead and act on that because they know their situation best. This is the second san jose Police Officer shot this year while working for the National Fraternal order of police says that by late december of 2022, 323 Police Officers have been shot while in the line of duty that year. And 60 officers had been killed by gunfire. Santa clara countys District Attorney says gun prevention initiatives will be key to saving lives. Its hard to say whether it could have made a difference yesterday or not, but one thing we know is that that it will make a difference in thousands of Domestic Violence and red flag law violations that happen each year.
