Air quality Officials Say the smoky air was likely a result of residents burninged into not from wildfires up in the sierra. The air quality did not trigger a spare the air alert. Chief meteorologist bill martin joins us now with a look at the weather. Bill . Yeah, thats interesting. I would suspect theres a certain amount of air quality issue from the fires in the Central Valley in the east, coming up from the glass fire. I do expect there is some local burning, but we dont see a lot of wood burning in the bay area anymore. So as we look at the air quality, im just questioning that. As i look at the air quality, those yellows, thats not wood burning. San francisco not wood burning, i dont think, and we too region is onshore flow. Earlier today we winds are going like this, so the smoke was coming out of the Central Valley from some of the fires, and youll see that. Im going to pop in a live camera, and youll see the red in the atmosphere. Thats smoke, and its kind of offshore a little bit, represents air quality, less than what we would like. Yesterday was a little bit like this, as well, with kind of hazy, smoky skies. Its been like that for a few days. Temperatures today generally like they were yesterday. As a matter of fact, theres currents, and then here is the departure from yesterday. So its been a good pattern this week. Im real happy with this pattern. I would like to see real rain, but we do have a pattern here that is manageable from a cal fire standpoint, and thats one of most important things right now. Were going to see some wind out of the northwest, after that system passes through early next week, but its a northwest wind, which is not the same thing as a northeast wind.
