Now to the latest on the glass fire which still burns in the north bay. It scorched more than 65,000 acres in napa and sonoma counties. This fire is now at 30 containment. Flames have destroyed more than 1200 buildings including almost 500 homes. More than 240 others have been damaged and more than 21,000 homes and businesses remain threatened. Lighter winds and cooler temperatures are expected to hem firefighters gain more control of the fire. I think with pretty high confidence we could say we have gotten past the peak of the most extreme conditions that we have seen across the fire since its initiation a week or so ago. Over the weekend we had the most extreme high temperatures and relative humidities across the glass fire. Authorities have issued evacuation warnings for two areas of lake county. Cal fire says full on the glass fire could take weeks. People living in and around received some good news over the weekend. They were able to return home after evacuation orders were downgraded to just a warning. Greg has more on the clean up efforts underway. Perez began cleaning up his property shortly after returning sunday evening following a week of evacuation. His home unscathed. It is nice. It is good to come back. Those who live in this orange zone in the valley saw evacuation orders reduced to warnings sunday allowing them to return home. A sign the fire threat is over for now. It makes me feel good to be able to stay in my home and do the things i need to do and not worry about it. Returning residents can thank firefighters and Mother Nature for creating favorable conditions that allowed firefighters to boost containment from 15 to 26 in a day. Though many communities are still under evacuation. Cal fire says its confident it has done the work to protect the most vulnerable areas. We dont consider the fire contained or controlled. It will be weeks before we get to that benchmark. That does not mean we feel an imminent threat to any specific community. The glass fire has destroyed more than 1200 structures. The 65,000 acres of scorched earth it has consumed helping bring californias total acreage burned to more than 4 million this year. Fire season is not over. Please be prepared because we are not out of the woods yet. It is only october. We have many weeks to go for fire season. More than 17,000 firefighters are currently battling blazes across the state. 2,800 of them on the glass fire. A year even veterans cant put into words. Im struggling with that just because of how this year is turning out. No one has seen it like this in the state of california. Back to you. Back to that breaking news out of maryland. As we said at the top of the newscast the president will be departing the Medical Center in about three and a half hours here. Lets listen in to a News Conference getting underway. He will be surrounded with world class medical care 24 7. Good afternoon. Just a brief update this morning as dr. Conley mentioned the president continues to do very well. His vital signs this morning were notable for a temperature of 98. 1. His Blood Pressure was 134 over 78. His heart rate was 68 beats per minute. His last saturation was 97 . He currently does not endorse any respiratory complaints. Aside from our evaluation with the team this morning, has maintained a full schedule. I will now turn it over to dr. To discuss therapeutics. Thanks. Hi. Good afternoon. I wanted to echo the sentiment of what an honor it is to be part of this team. He tolerated that infusion without difficulty. His kidney and liver function continue to be normal. Our plan is to give the fourth dose this evening before he goes back to the white house. We made arrangements to deliver the fifth and final dose at the white house tomorrow evening. He continues and the plan for today is dont be up and out of bed, eat and drink and work as he is able. I will like to turn it over to dr. Jason. Thank you. Good afternoon everyone. First of all i want to say what an honor it has been to part of this medical team behind me and to care for the president. Since the president s arrival at walter reed he has received medical management that remains in line with National Clinical seattle guidelines for treatment of covid19 infection. In addition both myself and dr. West campbell have worked very closely with various laboratories in the area, state of the ark facilities to include on obtaining advanced diagnostic testing to inform the White House Medical Team of both the status of the president as well as his ability to transmit the virus to others. Also we have worked very closely with the walter reed team to ensure that we are looking very closely at Infection ControlPrevention Strategies and the right posture so that the president can safely return to his residence. With that i will turn it over to dr. Conley who will answer any final questions. I mentioned it saturday but id like to reiterate myself just how grateful the president and i are to the men and women of walter reed, our colleagues at john hopkins as well as the many federal institutions we have received support from. And as long as everything continues on the track we are experiencing right now at this time, as the president already tweeted out, is to get him home later today. With that i will take a couple of questions. [ inaudible question ] we sent patients home with medications all the time. In fact yesterday afternoon he probably met most of his discharge requirements. He is returning to the facility that is staffed 24 7, topnotch physicians, nurses, pas. The unit here the team here behind me will dont support us in that nature. What other Infection Control measures are you taking . How is it safe for him to return to the white house where will there have been so many cases . So the president has been surrounded by medical and security staff for days wearing full ppe. And yesterday the u. S. Secret Service Agents were in the same level of ppe for a short period of time. We worked with them to make some recommendations for how to keep everything safe down at the white house for the president and those around him. We are looking at where he will be able to carry out his duties, office space and i will just say that it is in line with everything we have been doing upstairs for the last several days. Can you tell us please on testing can you tell us when he had his last negative test . Was it thursday . Was it wednesday . Do you remember when he had his last negative test . I dont want to go backwards. [ inaudible question ] i understand. The Contact Tracing as understand is being done. Im not involved in that. [ inaudible question ] so, we try to get patients home and out of the hospital as quickly as is safe and reasonable. Everyday a patient stays in the hospital unnecessarily is a risk to themselves. Right now there is nothing being done upstairs here we cant safely conduct down home. You said 7 to 10 days was a window you would be concerned ability. I dont think we are there yet so do you have concerns about potential worsening or reversal and what are you plans for addressing that if it were to happen . You are right. That is why we all remain cautiously optimistic and on guard because we are in a bit of unchartered territory. So we are looking to this weekend. If we can get through to monday, with him remaining the same or improving better yet, then we will all take that final deep 150i of relief. 24 7 world class medical care surrounding him down there. We will not miss anything that we would have caught up here. [ inaudible question ] i wish i could go into that more but i just cant. [ inaudible question ] so that has something do yesterday we talked about that. The several little temporary drops in his oxygen. We discussed that as a team and elected to start it early in case that persisted or worsened. The potential risks and side effects we all discussed. We looked at the data and decided that wed rather push ahead on it than hold and risk the opposite. [ inaudible question ] as far as travel goes we will see. On his mental status, can you talk about whether he has any neurological symptoms . No, i think you have seen the videos and the tweets. You will see him shortly. Hes back, yeah. [ inaudible question ] so we have done routine standard imaging. Im just not at liberty to discuss. [ inaudible question ] so, um there are hipaa rules and regulations that restrict me in sharing certain things for his safety and his own health and reasons. [ inaudible question ] yeah so he he two episodes like we talked about yesterday and both times he received a little bit of oxygen and recovered immediately. [ inaudible question ] um no, it wasnt required. He wasnt short of breath. He wasnt looking ill. It was more of us trying to anticipate needs and see how he responded. In both cases he came right off. He didnt need it for very long at all. You were on Board Air Force gown multiple trips. Are you concerned about your own health . I am concerned. As long as you continue to test negative, you remain symptom free and you keep a mask on when you are we do inside the hospital 24 7, yor duties. [ inaudible question ] has he been get out of here . The president has been phenomenal patient during his stay here. Hes been working hand and glove with us and the team and today got to the point hes Holding Court with those of us around him, the whole team going over all the specifics. The testing, what the future is and and we we have been back and forth on what is safe and reasonable. [ inaudible question ] um no. The president afraid of covid. You agree do you agree with that . Im not going to get into what the president says. Does it mean there were effects and it is all normal . What is up with that . It is all it is all normal right now. I would say he appeared to be a little dehydrated friday. He he was able to drink and recover from that and yeah, everything looks great. [ inaudible question ] so the big first thing we need to do is there is no evidence of live virus still present that he could possibly transmit to others. That is what the Infectious Disease experts and and some of our partners are as soon as we can identify that routinely. We talk about a ten day window. We are checking him more routinely. There is a possibility it is earlier than that. There is a chance that it is a little bit later. We will know as soon as possible and then we will look at him clinically. How are you feeling . How are you doing . Why have you decided not to administer it to the president during husband his time here . There are dozens of therapies we were made aware of we considered that we discussed and debated and looked at. Um this is the regimen we chose. [ inaudible question ] is he having some of the muscle aches . Has he lost his sense of taste and smell . No. We were just talking about that what symptoms he has left. He is even a slight cough he used to have doesnt really all. He has never complained of muscle aches and he is up and back to his old self predominantly. Just to be clear, how long will he still be actively shedding the virus . So this morning i believe there was even an accounting by dr. Fauci referencing a five day the first five days of illness that people are most likely to shed live virus. There is a reason there is the ten days. Most people by that time after seven days most folks dont have culturable live virus. They put it to tone give some extra space. It is never 100 between everybody. We will see. I cant im not going to put a specific number. We look at that that window is all im saying. Will the president be confined those residence . We will do whatever it takes for the president to safely conduct business wherever it is he needs to do within the residence and white house. Is he on blood thinners . Also has he been using have you been giving him tylenol, advil . That came up i would like to say he has not been on any fever reducing medications for over 72 hours. [ inaudible question ] he is on a a routine regimen of covid therapy. Im not going into specifics as to what he is and is not on. The president had a mild cover and some nasal congestion and fatigue on thursday. Back to my colleagues question, the reason knowing when the president s last test is is important for that reason your words what you said and also for the Contact Tracing but would you recommend given those symptoms that he go to that fundraiser . Its not up to me necessarily. The president s schedule i would say that it wasnt till after he returned we really sat down then knowing the news of the day we really dove into how are you feeling . What is going on . [ inaudible question ] im not going to get into operations. When was his last negative test . What Everyone Wants that. I dont i dont have his viral those are some of the diagnostics that we are sending out that will t
