Reporter in the past, in previous years whenever you had triple digit temperatures inland and a three day weekend it usually means people flock to local beaches. This year, with covid19 still an issue, Public Officials are trying to change the trend. The Public Safety message make your labor day plans local, limited to your family to prevent the spread of covid19. All regions are closed this weekend. If we have our beaches 250, 300 people, we are in some serious issues. Reporter hiking trails of the pacific will remain open, still were beaches in Half Moon Bay. In santa cruz most beaches and state parks are closed. The idea behind the partial closure was to discourage out oftowners to get smaller locals a place to escape the heat. The daytime closure will be a discouragement for people traveling from long distances. We believe the exception is a good balance. Reporter alamedas crown beach in San Francisco will remain open, but masks and social distancing are required. I dont think it is hard for people to make a sacrifice this weekend. The sacrifices this not to go to any of the beaches, not to really go anywhere, not to go to family barbecues. Reporter public Health Officials say clusters of covid 19 clusters were often traced back to family gatherings. The advice from Health Officials, limit those gatherings to people within your household. Reporter if you are going to be hanging out with people in your extended family or friends, it is always a good idea to keep those gatherings strictly outdoors to minimize the risks. Thank you for that. This coming weekend but because of Health Restrictions some activities are not allowed. Crowds are expected. You are advised to social distance and also continue to wear that mask. A statewide flex alert has been issued. We are all asked to be conserving electricity and power tomorrow all the way through monday to prevent rolling blackouts that we had earlier this summer. Some parts of the bay area could reach 110 degrees. That will increase the demand for power. Governor newsom has signed an emergency proclamation to release extra Energy Capacity to allow power plants to generate more energy by bypassing certain permit requirements. Officials with the state offering up energysaving tips, dont run the washing machine, dryer, dishwashers or pool pumps until 9 00 at night. You want to keep the bottles of water in the refrigerator and keep them cool. Turn on ovens, charge vehicles and electronics in the morning. Gain ground on the fires causing unhealthy air and all of the hazy here in the bay area. Cal fire says the trenton fire in santa cruz in san mateo is fixed 56 contained after burning nearly 135 square miles. The fire killed one person and has destroyed nearly 1000 homes. The scu complex fire is burning in seven counties including alameda and santa clara counties. It is now 82 contained. And has burned nearly 620 square miles. 131 buildings have been destroyed by this fire. In the north bay, firefighter still making a lot of process battling the lnu mining complex fire. The good news is it is now 87 contained. It has burned more than 586 square miles. Six people have been killed including the pg e worker. 1500 buildings have been destroyed all across napa, sonoma and solano counties. Cal fire says the utility crews are working around the lake and traffic delays are expected. New numbers show that the woodward fire is now 71 contained. It has burned seven square miles near point rate National Seashore. Many evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted. The point raise National Seashore is closed is Holiday Weekend. Alameda county, some restriction on businesses are being slightly eased. Hair salons, barber shops, retail stores, and malls are now allowed to operate indoors at 25 capacity. Outdoor Recreational Activities such as miniature golf, batting cages and driving ranges have also started back up today. She says the heat and the smoke from the wildfires made it difficult to work out doors. Officials and Santa Clara County say next week they expect the county to move to the next tier of the states colorcoded system for coronavirus risk. You can see the shade of orange is a little bit more widespread as you go inland. Not only our valley locations around the bay, but hills included as well. That is what is to come. Outside our doors at this hour, it is a nice day. We are right about average for this time of year. A little bit warmer in most areas. 70 over santa rosa, around the bay low 60s to low 70s, 62 in San Francisco and san jose reporting 70 degrees. The heat not on just yet. Heres a look at the 24hour temperature change where we are six degrees warmer now in santa rosa than we were during the lunch hour yesterday. Up by four in Half Moon Bay and three over san jose. The winds still a little bit of an onshore breeze through fairfield. Seven in oakland, in addition to the heat, once we get farther down the road around monday we start to see a little bit of a shift in the wind, that is expected to increase the fire danger. In washington state, authority say they killed a man for shooting and killing a rightwing activist in portland last weekend. A federal Fugitive Task force tracked down 48yearold michael rhino at an apartment complex in olympia last night. Police tried to arrest him but they say he pointed a gun at them and they had to open fire. He died at the scene. Police in new york city are looking for the person who drove a car right through a crowd of black lives matter protesters.
