Some streets in San Franciscos tenderloin district will be closed to make room for outdoor fun spot for children to play. Several blocks of turk street will be shut down for cars tomorrow for the latest launch of the citys play streets program. Tenderloin has higher per capita population of children in any neighborhood in San Francisco, the play Street Program comes five months after the city had shut down the parks and playgrounds in the area. We are hearing about a potential Coronavirus Vaccine that was approved for use in china last month. The Reuters News Agency reports that the drug is called corona vaccine, program and china to vaccinate high risk groups such as medical staff. The marin county sheriff says it is smoky and he is asking people to avoid visiting the coast this weekend. A game changer, abbott labs has announced a new covid19 test which is portable, the size of a credit card. It is cheap, five dollars and it returns results in a teen minutes. It is an app that allows you to display test results for work or school. A rapid, reliable, affordable test with massive scale. It is a tool that will help us safely get back to daily life. At Carbon Health, they are excited. The 25 primary urgent care clinics nationwide, 10 of them are in california. They have been early adopters of the technology, but the first rapid test required a tabletop machine in order to get results. It is cumbersome, and expensive. The test cartridges are much more expensive than the antigen test. It is more like a pregnancy test. Reporter doctors envision the new more portable test having wider applications. You can imagine deploying at any school, or a Movie Theater, before people go in. The only caveat is that the fda is recommending that your doctor runs the test. Theres a caveat as well, so far the fda has only recommended this test for those with active symptoms. Doctors hope that changes. With wait times running 12 weeks, they say the more people that can access rapid testing, the better. Being able to do an onsite rapid test means you get back to your normal life faster. The human impact of that is massive. Reporter Carbon Health will get their tests and the first few weeks. According to the chamber of commerce, half of the citys restaurants do not have any sales at all. Restaurant sales are down 91 percent since the pandemic started in march. The alameda theater has been closed since march because of the pandemic. Supporters say the facility has 25,000 in insurance and maintenance costs every month.
