We also have late word tonight about damage. Cal fire says the bay areas three big fires have burned more than half 1 million acres and destroyed more than 500 structures. The lnu is the secondlargest wildfire in california history, it stretches across five counties and has burned more than 300,000 acres. The good news committed 15 contained. We also learned tonight 480 structures have been destroyed in this fire. The czu fires have burned more than 57,000 acres. Containment is up from 0 percent to 2 . 95 to structures have been destroyed and another 2000 are threatened. And the fire in alameda and santa clara has scorched 275,000 acres and firefighters is a it is 10 contained. Five structures have been destroyed. Team coverage of the fires, we have more on the progress being made in Sonoma County. We also have more on what is happening in santa cruz. First, we taketh our meteorologist with a look at the Current Conditions for firefighters. And fully the moisture levels have been coming up and that will probably a big asset for the fire crews tonight to kind of help them get that firefight to help them along the way. But also developing today, we are tracking another round of tropical moisture that could lead to possibly more thunderstorms. That is very bad news. But we are watching this fire weather watch and this will begin at 11 00 a. M. Sunday until 11 00 a. M. Tuesday. It is the entire bay area. We are not expecting the same level of lightning, in terms of how much activity we had last weekend and early this week, but still any chance of dry lightning could lead to more fires to start. Of course we are tracking all of these fires, the fire complex in the north bay. The good news, were showing you a bunch of numbers here. The one thing you want to keep an eye on, the relative humidity. That is going up and that is a Great Development around 45 to 50 a closer to Sonoma County temperatures right now are in the 70s. Does moisture levels are coming up. The fog redeveloped coast side and the marine influences helping all of these fires. The woodward fire with temperatures in the upper 50s and 60s. Of course were checking out the czu august lightning complex in Santa Cruz County and San Mateo County. The wind speeds, there is a bit of a breeze around 3 to 12 miles an hour. Temperatures right now in the 70s, but moisture levels are really coming up. But also the smoke, that is a key, kind of a result with this pattern. Lots of smoke, as you know, over the bay area. That spare the air alert in place into the weekend. We have more on that and your weekend outlook in a few minutes. The fire with the least containment tonight is the czu complex, threatening half a dozen communities in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The group of lightning sparked fires burning in san mateo and santa cruz counties has merged into one big fire. We have the briefing from cal fire. Reporter they are certainly glad for the weather that helped them out today. The good news is so far there has been no loss of life. But as you mentioned, 97 structures have been destroyed and they expect that count could go up. Smoke billowed from the Santa Cruz Mountains friday as the southern San Mateo County fire and northern Santa Cruz County fires merged into one. Cal fire says flames have destroyed more than 97 structures and the count is likely to rise as fire investigators are expected to arrive this weekend. The devastation painfully clear friday along redwood drive near teal road. Burned homes lined up, flames celebrating in some spots, a reminder of the blaze that lasted through overnight driven by winds. This evacuee returning briefly was relieved to see his house still standing. Others overnight were not as fortunate. In bonny doon this resident said he saw his neighbors homes burn. There have been huge explosions left and right. Propane pangs, cars, gas tanks, that has been unsettling. It is very exhausting. Reporter cal fire says 1157 personnel are trying to fight the blaze, not enough. But there was one bit of good news. A little bit of help from Mother Nature as far as a little bit of cooling temperatures, little change in the wind. We have not seen a reddick fire behavior throughout the day. It has allowed us to make some progress. Reporter at a News Conference the fire chief says crews were able to establish contingency lines on the southern flank to protect uc santa cruz and the city of santa cruz, which is not been evacuated. But all day friday police and sheriffs deputies went doorto door in the Scotts Valley area making sure everyone was out. Desperation and despair for some residents, fleeing or trying to hang on. He has been saying this place is overdue for a fire, people need to take the 25 foot break seriously. Now its really scary because its happening. I stayed behind here to keep everything watered down and to hold guard until basically i saw flames on the side of the hillside right here. Reporter cal fire and sheriffs deputies say people need to leave. Overnight cal fire got three calls for rescues, forced to redirect resources. Those individuals didnt leave when they were originally asked to and then ended up calling for help. Socal fire had to respond to those, taking their men and women off of the front line of that fire. Reporter the Santa Cruz County sheriffs deputies tell me they are focused on security and they do say anybody who defies a mandatory Evacuation Order and tries to go around the roadblocks could be facing a misdemeanor charge. On that note, five people were arrested in Santa Cruz County on suspicion of looting. Deputies said happened this morning on fall creek drive in felton. The five were arrested on charges including looting, grand theft and conspiracy. Deputies say they tried to stop two are leaving the area, this one ended up in a ditch. This is a series of fires burning in sonoma, napa and solano counties. The areas of concern right now are the walbridge fire and the hennessey fire. We have the latest from cal fire. Reporter this complex, the hennessey and the walbridge fire , are the states top priority right now in a long list of fires. And fortunately progress is being made. Sonoma county, today, saw its lowest aggressive air attack to date. Tankers and helicopters dropping at a furious pace, strategically laying water and retardant where it will cut the fires path toward populated areas. Ground crews on the walbridge double today to more than 1000 personal in the Incident Commander says that is making a big difference in getting containment lines laid. Containment of 15 now, but the wind shift to the South Southwest on saturday is a big concern, which is way evacuations widened in the Russian River communities. There is also more lightning storms in the weekend forecast. The potential is we will have another round of lightning that will come through the area. Regardless of whether or not it is accompanied by rain, it is still a cause for concern for us locally. Overnight cooling has helped, but if winds come up the fire stands near Dry Creek Valley shrouded in smoke. Fire teams from all over the state are in the area in the city of hillsboro is that evacuation warning status. Now the napa side of the complex, the hennessey fire, is more stable. Officials were talking about a timetable for repopulating the evacuated areas. People are eager to get back in. And was clear that there is still fire damage and many hazards, so that will be many days away. Its definitely going to take some time and hopefully the overnight weather conditions will improve. New information on the deaths of three people in the lnu fire in napa county. The sheriff says their bodies were found in a home on a rural stretch of highway 128 in napa county south of lake mary acid. Authorities to the property was in a mandatory evacuation area. The woodward fire continues to burn north of bolinas. It has burned more than 4200 acres with 5 containment. It too was started lightning. Expanded evacuation warnings were in effect. The woodward fire is burning in rugged terrain. Air support these past two days is helping efforts to contain the spread. Still ahead tonight, the latest on the third large complex fire burning in the bay area. At 10 30, where the scu lightning complex fire is burning that is making the firefight extra challenging. And we now know these fires have had a devastating impact on hundreds of families. Of next, we hear from a couples whose home is one of dozens to burn down. Its just sad. New video tonight of firefighters driving into the lnu fire in vacaville. This video is from tuesday. It shows just how intense the flames were as firefighters drove from fairfield into the fire zone for their initial attack on the blaze. Take a look at that, you can to the vegetation burning on either side of them as embers fly through the air towards their truck. Crews now have a better handle on the Solano County portion of the lnu complex. Today officials lifted evacuations for the city of vacaville and Travis Air Force base. Some families are returning home to find nothing is left standing. Ktvus amber lee is joining us live after speaking with a couple who lost their home in the fire. Reporter we are on Pleasant Valley road where we saw a number of homes destroyed, including this one, a shell of what it once was. Now we also see a tree, a fallen tree limb still smoldering. One couple showed us whats left of their home. This is the entrance to the house. So the front door wouldve been right there where the little opening is. Reporter gym and Rebecca Barnes are thinking about the home they had and what it will take to rebuild. Daunting when they look at whats left of their 4000 square foot home in vacaville off of Pleasant Valley road. We are devastated, as anyone would be. Reporter this is what their home looked like before the fire. The barnes told me they took great joy and hosting many large family gatherings, a place to create memories. Just sad. My home left with me the night that we left. Reporter this is video barnes shot while he and his family were evacuating early tuesday morning. Christmas is really important to me. When i put him on my tree every year i know exactly where they came from, who gave them to me. Reporter in the rubble, a piece of a family heirloom. And all belonging to his grandmother that gifted it to her granddaughter. Have evacuated in years past, but the fires never came close, until now. This fire is a nasty demon and its got its own line. You can pretend you can control it, but clearly we cant. Reporter the barnes are looking towards the future. I marty thinking of what its going to look like. So that is all in the rearview, let it be there. Reporter the barnes told me they had good defensible space, despite the loss. They are grateful they are unharmed and are now staying with family. Our thoughts go out to them and so many others affected by this fire. In Solano County the venetia high school bucking matches getting back together to help fire victims. The ban has been sidelined by covid19 for months now. But now the bandmembers are working together to gather donations for those that have been affected by the fires. Students tell us, since they cant gather together to play, they will instead gather to collect donations in an effort to help those in need. These are all smooth my closest friends. Just the fact that we are all here doing this together, its the ultimate team, in my opinion. This is like my 14th or 15th year at venetia and the ability of the kids to come together and really rise up for situations like this is amazing. The ban will be accepting donations this sunday morning from 9 00 to 11 30 a. M. At the ninth street park. It will be a contact list site for those who donate. A week ago we were talking about the extreme heat with the heat warning in place, then all of the thunderstorms and then still hot and muggy. Temperatures have cooled off a bit, but we all know the result, lots of fires and lots of. That will continue to be a big factor in our forecast this week and. Take a look at the maps right now where we are showing you just the fire clusters out there up and down the state, really centered it seems like here in the bay area. This is not a good message to deliver for tonight. We actually have another fire watch beginning 11 00 a. M. Sunday to 11 00 a. M. Tuesday. Another surge of moisture will move in from the south. That could lead to instability, thunderstorms and lightning. Very a little in the way of rain so. We are watching out for that into the back half of the weekend and early next week. We watching two things this area of High Pressure sets up the circulation here and then the sky will roll down to the south. You see what happens as this goes in a motion. That will set up a southerly flow and it could set up more topical moisture toward sunday, especially sunday night into monday. And then once again monday night and early tuesday morning. Those look like the two windows we are watching that could lead to may be more Lightning Strikes in the bay area. Im sure fire crews are all being briefed as they coordinate to try to set things up into the weekend and beyond and early next week. Here is the forecast model, low clouds and fog tomorrow morning. Really cloudy skies, a lot of smoke, a lot of hayes, but the spirit here alert is in place. Here is sunday morning, notice what happens later in the day, a big batch of moisture moves in. This could be linked with possible thunderstorms sunday night. It moves into the north early monday morning. And possibly another surge for monday night and early tuesday morning. I should stress though, at this point it doesnt look like it will be even close to what we went through last week. But still, any Lightning Strike could mean serious business. We are watching out for those forecast, at least for the forecast for the weekend. Highs for tomorrow, hot spots in the upper 90s, cool spots coast side and the mid60s. Looking ahead we will continue to keep an eye on the instability for sunday and monday. Tomorrow should be the hottest day of the weekend. He puts the giants up 21 and gets a lot of love in the dugout. Still 22 in the fifth when wilmer florez, man hes hot, he homers for the Third Straight game, first time in his career he has done that. Number seven on the season for florez and the giants 42 at that juncture. They go on to win 62 and keep the win streak alive. The raiders, they are gone, but not forgotten around here. Have gotten there first look at the brandnew stadium in las vegas. Your jaw drops, this is the nicest stadium ive ever been in in my life. The team toured their new 2 billion palace just off the south end of the las vegas strip. It is a 65,000 seat dome stadium , but with natural grass. And you Better Believe owner mark davis is basking in the glow, even giving a Legion Stadium its unofficial nickname. Welcome to the death star, where our opponents dreams come to die. All right. The nba playoffs marsh on in the bubble in orlando. Four wargames today. The headliner would be Kawhi Leonard in the drizzle to go up 21 on the good nonchurch in the dallas mavericks. And that low brother seth, he had himself again, steals the ball from paul george and converts at the other end with the tough little perversity layup. Set up with 22 off the bench, he went nine for 11 shooting. And lucia jon tritsch goes down with a sprained ankle. He returned briefly, but was an effective. s status moving forward, very iffy. And then Kawhi Leonard takes over. The drive, the gym, he had 36 points, thats a gamehigh and steve ballmer, the owner, usually we see him more animated, but the clippers win 130122. They leave the series 2 games to 1. And golf shooting around in the 50s hasnt happened a lot. It is hallowed ground. Today we almost side happened twice in the second round of the northern trust. Scott scheffler come around of the day, a great shot on 16 and that he knocked on the birdie. On 18 you will need this putt for a 59. He drains it and at 24 becomes the second youngest player to break 60. For a long time it looks like we might see Dustin Johnson also shooting the 50s. In fact, he was 1100 through 11 holes. But he kind of slowed down and finished with just a 60 [ laughter ]. A pretty great round himself. A 60 for dj and a two straight lead over scheffler. Our favorite segment of the night, we have good stuff to show you in todays latest installment of check this out. Back to the bubble, raptors Fred Vanvleet from beyond midcourt to beat the halftime buzzer. What a shock, that is like steph territory. They beat the nuts and lead 3 1. Back to the coliseum, mike flyers has a very high fastball, way out of the strike zone. I dont know if ive seen this before. Day fletcher, look how high he goes up to get this one. He kind of hacks at it and it goes down the right field line. Somehow he turned that swing into a double against the as, but of course the as got the better of the angels and won the game, but fletcher, boy what a shock. All right, i will have lots more coming up in about 25 minutes, including why the 49ers change their practice time today, but now it is time for the 11 00 news.
