off a few things but this was mostly about he was the man to bring stability to america at a time when we have a pandemic. we are in the precipice of a depression. and there's a blossoming racial justice moment movement going here. he portrayed himself as the man for the moment. he did not use president trump's name but he did attack him. i don't think the gloves came off though. was that not the time for that sort of an attack? >> joe biden will be -- he portrays a self as an upstanding guy. plenty of other democrats to take down trump. that is what the rest of the convention was about. you will see a lot of that taken up by his vice presidential nominee, kamala harris. she's the one with the gloves off. she's the one taking down trump and pence at every turn. truck all weekend, special last night, we heard democrats painting the picture of the 2020 10 with president trump on the one side and everyone else on the other. how do you expect democrats to go after independent, progressive and republicans unsatisfied with president trump. how do they get everyone else to be in their corner and to go to the polls. >> these are two different things. one of them is that we saw a record number of republicans at the dnc. like former governor kerry of ohio, joe biden is not going to be too far left and he's a guy we can work with. the challenge for biden is that progressive like bernie sanders say joe biden is with us. he's a progressive. not a progressive but we can work with him. so biden has a to very carefully navigate those two forces as the democrats tried to build content to take on trump, they are building a tent of folks against trump. the other hand, voting early. we heard that as a mantra all through the week. the consulate gave out the texting information on how to get in touch and how to learn how to vote early. that is what you will hear democrats hammer on for a long time. they are very concerned about the cutbacks at the postal service delaying votes in those posts may not be captured pick they are concerned about that so you will hear about vote early, vote early for the next 74 days. did republicans now have a tough act to follow with their convention next week? >> you see a very different convention. as we alluded to, the democrats are trying to build an avengers. the avengers are all the superheroes together. we are taking on the bad guy, trump. trump is the opposite. remember, four years ago his mantra was that i alone can fix this. republicans have built up this personality around trump were biden is the team approach. and so it will be a very different scene next week at the republican party. he was the california being highlighted as sort of the dystopian future of what this country could become and joe biden and kamala harris being the embodiment of that. look for california to be basically a punchline all next week at the republican convention. it will be a very darker dystopian view of what america could become if the radical democrats as republicans like to say, take charge. all right. good to have you on, joe foley. >> thank you for having me. we will expand our coverage next week to bring you the rope of kind national convention starting monday. it will be a mix of live and taped speeches and virtual content. president trump said he will accept the nomination for president for his party on the south lawn of the white house. one last check of traffic on this friday morning. good morning. we are looking at a commute where someone asked me about highway 17. i will put the map up because
