The doctor who helped lead the Coronavirus Fight in Alameda County is in the forefront in the entire state. The doctor had been in the Alameda County health officer. She then took the job as state epidemiologist in july. With the sudden departure the California Health officer, the doctor has been named as acting state health officer. Governor newsom is refusing to say whether she was forced out in part because of the Technical Glitch involving the state Office Coronavirus data collection. The governor set President Trumps executive order would require some devastating cuts in californias budget and Governor Newsom said california is already dealing with the crisis because of the pandemic. Today the Santa Clara County board of supervisors will consider fines for people who do not wear a mask or social distance. The board is set to vote this morning on whether to expand the countys power to impose penalties to businesses and people who violate Public Health orders. Under the proposal, county employees in addition to law enforcement, would be able to issue fines from 25 2500 depending on the violation. Santa clara county has launched a new Program Designed to help bridge the Digital Divide as students in the south bay prepare for the new school year. The county is teaming up with the city of san jose to provide more than 15,000 students in underserved areas of the county with laptops, tablets, and wi fi service. The goal of the 7 Million Program is to keep every student connected with their teachers as another semester of Online Learning begins.
