The Sheriffs Office says someone in custody has a gun and has fired several shots. Now, we want to take you there, the suspect is inside the Basement Parking lot by himself from what we are told. The jail has been placed on lockdown. It is unclear how the suspect got a gun or why that person was in custody. So far, there are no reports of injuries. People are being told to avoid the area. We will have an update at the top of the hour. A barrier mother is still missing more than a month after she went on a road trip to southern california, the desert. Our reporter tells us that there are some clues, but so far, no signs of the 37year old. Reporter days, weeks, a month has passed. That is beyond concerning. Reporter her friends say she would never abandon her 12 yearold son. She has a child who needs her. Shes got friends and family. Reporter colleagues who worked alongside her for years in this hair salon agree. Her station is now cleared out as her disappearance has stretched on. I miss her. I miss her a lot. It is hard to not know what happened to her. Someone has to know something. Reporter Joshua Tree National park is where she drove, alone, in mid june, telling her roommate she was meeting friends to camp there and clear her mind. Lloyd lost contact. Her car was found, abandoned. The windshield was shattered. There is no sign of her as the area between the campground and her vandalized car was searched by air, atvs and ground searches. Her car was damaged, there was minor damage to the undercarriage of the vehicle. It was disabled. The vehicle broke down. Reporter the lead detective knows that her loved ones fear foul play. There was no evidence that she was alone, going to the park, inside the park. We have evidence of that. Searching in heat and high winds, her survival would be slim, her camping gear was left behind. We took it upon ourselves to translate the pamphlets. Those are being handed out at the testing site. Reporter they have partnered with a project in Alameda County to hire contact tracers who can connect people to resources if they test positive. There are a lot of people with no literacy, no education. There is a lot of information that is very academic and medical. It is on technology that our community doesnt necessarily access. Reporter they are doing outreach for latinos and the guatemalan community. There language is not a written language. They are at more of a disadvantage than most of the Latino Community. Although, there has been information in spanish, it is not reaching the most vulnerable right now. Reporter that is because many families who live in multigenerational households cannot afford to work. That has been a big challenge from the beginning to today. People cannot stay at home. Reporter the reality is, 10 of us live 10 to a home, 10 to a room. We have to work. Reporter he says, testing sites including distributions are helping spread the word about taking safety precautions. Advocates hope the area can soon work on a strategy. First of all, it requires truncating and rushing. That is going to begin next week. The original consensus deadline was july. It was pushed back to october 31st. The agency now says it will stop counting on september 30th. The House Committee for oversight and reform wants to interview census officials about the change in the schedule. The census federal bureau says despite this, they are putting measures in place to improve the speed of account without sacrificing accuracy. New data shows the majority of americans are under the age of 40. One group started a Dumpster Fire last night outside of a building belonging to the Portland Police association. Separate groups also took place in other parts of the city. The two people seen on camera painting over a black lives matter mural in martinez are now facing hate crime charges. Nicole anderson and david nelson entered not guilty pleas yesterday at the downtown courthouse. The incident happened right outside the same building on july 4th. A witness caught them on the cell phone video of the painting over the street mural just hours after it was completed. Their attorney calls the charges outrageous and politically motivated.
