We start with the breaking news this hour, the Supreme Court has approved a second federal education, the order that blocks the execution of Wesley Purkey scheduled for last night was removed. A claim that purkey has dementia needs to be evaluated, the Justice Department appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court, which voted 54 to uphold the execution. He was convicted of killing a 16yearold girl, and an 80 yearold woman. Daniel lewis was executed and the First Federal execution since 2003. Happening today, people in San Mateo County nursing home will have visitors, but, there are restrictions. Only family, Close Friends and clergy members will be allowed to visit. There can be no more than two people visiting the same person at the time. All visits must be scheduled, and held outdoors. Exceptions can be made for legal or endoflife reasons. Today is the first day of the school year, for teachers at schools, the schools are inviting students to drive through events today and tomorrow. Parents can drive to the school and have kids and the car create teachers, using social distancing. Students will pick up study material, and submit requests for technology that they need for successful Distance Learning. The drivethrough will run through this afternoon, and continue through tomorrow. Fall classes and San Francisco, Public Schools begin next month, they announced that students will start out learning from home. Listen to part of the message from the superintendent. The fall semester will begin with a Distance Learning. We know that our entire Community Needs to make plans so we will even as we still finalize more details. The superintendent of the San FranciscoUnified School District contacted parents assaying that fall instruction will begin next month with Distance Learning. The first day of school is august 17. Mark sanchez says the district knows how difficult this will be for many families and that it will impact disadvantaged kids the most. The district will work to make sure they all have internet access. The chutney numbers are going in the wrong direction. We look at not being able to open with the City Health Order for quite a while, until things are better. San francisco has seen an uptick in cases and hospitalizations, the district hopes to move towards a hybrid approach with a combination of in class and Distance Learning when the science and data suggests it is safe. A detailed plan for Distance Learning will be discussed at a board of education meeting later this month, and those details will be shared with families on july 29. Only new york has more. 404,000. While new york is reporting less than 1000 new cases every day, california has 8300 and the past week. Governor newsom blamed a rise and hospitalizations is the main reason for rolling back reopening plans. Tuesday, there were 6800 coronavirus patients and hospitals, a oneday record. With reopening, the protests that we have seen, over the fourth of july, in particular, social gatherings, people come out with the reopening, and these are not surprising. Counties are still on the coronavirus watchlist, including seven bay area counties. The only bay area county that is not on the list, is San Francisco and san mateo. San francisco hospitals will be overwhelmed with the virus cases and the coming months, with 10 times as many cases as there were in april. If the current trend continues, that is according to dr. Brad colfax. San franciscos health director. There are 4700 virus cases, and 50 people have died. Hospitalizations spike into a high between last week and they week before. Before the scan was discovered, the tweets were removed, and the hackers pulled and more than 100,000. We are very lucky. Carrying out the scam seems to have only wanted money, and not to carry out a misinformation campaign, or start world war iii. Twitter says the attack targeted twitter employees who had access to the internal systems and tools. Twitter says that they have limited access to internal systems, while the investigation continues. The Alameda CountySheriffs Department is investigating what they call a mistake by Patrol Officer trainees, that led to a man who was handcuffed of being attacked by a police dog. That is pretty scary. Deputies arrested 37yearold kevin scholz outside of his home in san lorenzo after a domestic disturbance call. His officers were putting an end to the patrol car, deputy open the wrong door on the patrol car, and the police dog jumped out and attacked the man. He attacked me for 10 or 15 seconds but it felt like forever. It was shocking. It jumped and latched onto me. This is clearly an accident. Both doors will have labeling on them.
