Over the weekend activists and loved ones held a rally demanding to have them released and they are concerned because of the close quarters inside the prison and the inability to social distance. I reached out to the department of corrections to ask what they are doing to slow the spread and they sent me a statement saying since the global coronavirus pandemic hit our community, the department worked tirelessly to implement members to protect staff, the incarcerated population in the community at large. They suspended in person visits and reducing density in the dorms and granted an early parole to hundreds of inmates to thin out the population.
