Lets go back to the headlines. Happening today, the family of Stephen Taylor who was shot and killed by police will hold a News Conference. Back in april, taylor, who is mentally ill, was shot by police at a walmart while he was holding a bat. His family says they are frustrated with the Police Investigation of the shooting. Their News Conference is set for 6 00 p. M. It will be held in the courtyard of the San Diego Police station. The colorado governor has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the death of a 23yearold man who died after police restrained him with a chokehold. The mans name was elijah mclean. He was walking home from a Convenience Store in aurora, colorado last august when Someone Called Police and said he looked suspicious. The police wrestled him to the ground, used a chokehold on him, paramedics injected him with a sedative. He went into cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital and he died a few days later. We are looking into using every tool in our disposal to make sure the Company Public has confidence and we get justice in his own neighborhood. I appreciate the governors involvement. He talked to the mclean family. I could tell, from his statement, that he heard them. I am disappointed, of course, it took millions of outraged citizens and media pressure for anyone to pay attention. The three Police Officers were placed on administrative leave. They have all since been reinstated to the force. The time is 4 34. A walgreens in oakland cannot fill out medications and prescriptions after its pharmacy was damaged during looting after recent street protests. This walgreens is on high street. While the pharmacy is being repaired, some medications may not customers are being referred other locations to get prescriptions filled. Later today, we will hear from the Coronavirus Task force from the first time in nearly 2 months. Mike pence is scheduled to leave the noose briefing news briefing. Researchers are looking for people who have recently been diagnosed with covid19 to take part in a new study. They are trying to determine the effectiveness of a common and inexpensive antibiotic in treating the disease. There are hopes that this drug could keep patients in the early stages of infection out of the hospital. Outpatient trials are interested in identifying therapeutics that work early in the disease course. The first purpose is, it approves outcome for individual patients. Keeping people out of the hospital as the primary goal. That improves outcomes. It reduces burden on the healthcare system. The Bay Area Research teams are looking for 2500 people for the study. Next week, the city of San Francisco moves into the next phase of its reopening plan, starting monday, the city will allow several businesses to reopen for the First Time Since march. That includes hair and nail salons, tattoo shops, outdoor bars. The San Francisco zoo and outdoor museums will also be allowed to reopen under the citys new Public Safety guidelines. The San Francisco zoo is getting ready to reopen on monday. The mayor went on a tour ahead of the reopening. She believes any businesses and services could start back up as long as they take the proper precautions. As reopen locations like the San Francisco zoo, our museums and other locations throughout San Francisco that provide an opportunity for families to enjoy during the summer, we still are living in covid. A marin county transgendered teenager is getting support from his community after he was harassed by adults in a local park. You look like a female. Okay, maam, maam he says the adults started harassing him because he had pride flags. When he said he was a trans man, they ridiculed him and said he was brainwashed and confused. The Community Rallied around him to support marginalized communities hoping to raise awareness. He really held his cool a lot better than a lot of other people would have. He was the adult in this situation. We are very proud of him. That sort of hate is not okay, to reference someones genitals, especially in minor, that is incredibly low and disgusting. Police have identified the two adults and investigators are asking the District Attorney to charge them with disturbing the peace and a misdemeanor hate crime. He hopes his story will trigger dialogue within families as well as within communities. San franciscos 50th pride celebration kicks off this weekend with a full schedule of Virtual Events because of the coronavirus. Pride events include live performances, movie screens, speeches from elected officials and lgbtq leaders as well as interactive programs. Ktvus amber lee shows us how this year, they are going electric. The Pink Triangle is a symbol of persistence and a beacon of hope. Reporter the pink beacon is back as a celebration of pride. On this night, a small crew is testing the l. E. D. S that will fill the center, a new look, giving it light, amidst the darkness of covid19. So much is virtual. We have to have something real. In previous years, the triangle was filled with tarps that needed 300 volunteers to install. Reporter social distancing means a new version of the triangle this year. We have been through the aids crisis, now we are in the covid crisis. We have lessons to share with the nation. We know how to roll with the punches and get things done. They released a new song, called, march march. It calls for social change. They released a brief statement on their new website that says, quote, we want to meet this moment. The word dixie is a nickname for the Southern States and is associated with the confederacy. Splash mountain will also get a makeover. The ride has been at the park for nearly 30 years and is one of the most popular, but it is also controversial because it is based on the 1946 film masson of the south. That movie has long been criticized for racial stereotypes and offensive betrayal of africanamericans.
