Elissa harrington joins us to talk about how investigators believe this fire might have started, alyssa . Reporter firefighters say that this was arson. They say that a witness saw someone lighting fires in that area. The suspect has been arrested. When units arrived, they found six separate fires, 2 to 3 acres in size. It was discovered that these were intentionally set. It was a witness who saw a person lighting these fires off. The colleen fire was reported yesterday before 6 00 along colleen drive in the santa teresa foothills of san jose. Aerial footage shows how close flames got to an entire neighborhood. They had tankers and helicopters doing air drops. Firefighters were outside homes. They said the neighborhood near the golden Ridge Golf Course was threatened. Residents were evacuated. That Evacuation Order has been lifted. One neighbor shot cell phone video of a plane dropping retardant on their street. A resident told ktvu she took a quick trip to the Grocery Store and returned to flames behind her house. As i started to drive by, you started to see smoke. You cant gauge how close it is to your home. I kept thinking, no, it is something further. I pulled in and saw right behind here. This particular mountain and to the left, it was definitely on fire, to where it looked really close. I want to show you live pictures from the scene. Cal fire is assisting the san jose fire department. There is other mutual aid. They are comprised of a single string of fires leaved to be intentionally set. It has burned 90 acres and is 20 contained. There are no reports of injuries or damaged homes. The suspect has been arrested. Police are questioning several other people. Several people were found shot and killed overnight inside a home that was on fire when police arrived. Morgan county deputies responded to reports of a shooting in that area. Protesters are calling for the School District to cut ties to local Police Agencies and use the money to pay for Affordable Housing and other community services.
