The mayor says businesses were indiscriminately vandalized, there was looting and fires, 30 first responders, more than 20 officers and 2 firefighters were injured. Tonight, oakland will continue to call in mutual aid to try to help out and they are also going to expand their patrols and though the mayor says she understands the anger and supports the protest, she is urging people to stay home, rather than take an anger and frustration into this streets. Like many cities across america, people came out in oakland to express their understandable anger about the death of george floyd. But that rage crossed an unacceptable line. We are second to wake up this morning to the destruction and the violence of our beloved oakland. Was started out as a peaceful demonstration but it turned into something much more. What started out as peaceful later turned violent and destructive. And we cannot allow what happened last night to happen again. As the mayor said, he crossed the line and we will not tolerate violence or destruction in our community.
