Known as declaration day. Memorial day became an official federal holiday in 1971. I believe declaration day is what it used to be known. Mike, allie, it is good to be having you on board today. I think about the ceremonies we have covered across the bay area for some 15 years or so. And i think what is missing this year is often the best part of the memorial day ceremonies. Sometimes you have to be seated or standing next to someone you have never met before then you turn and ask, why are you here . You get to learn about their daughter, their son, their husband or they brought their children to learn about memorial day and unfortunately, that is not really able to happen this year. I think you touched on it right there, about teaching your children about memorial day. My son always helps me raise the flag. We have our flag up right now. We put it up on friday, no school today, today is a day of education for our youth. To tell them, these men and women who died for our country, there was no fear, there was no hesitation. They went to battle for all of us and today, it is a holiday come home, no school, barbecuing if you can but we also have to take time to remember those who fought for us. There are ways to do that online or using the tools of the internet and their Historic Sites and museums that have prepared for these scaledback versions of memorial day events. They have extra resources that people can check out. You can provide that instruction to your kids, families, and there are groups having in person events but with social distancing and mask wearing rules in place. The occasion is different but the message behind it is still the same. And along those lines we do want to head over to sarah was talking about the other part of this memorial day weekend, the hot weather expected. A lot of people want to get out of their homes and there are some concerns that people might not be following social distancing rules, sarah . Thats right, as you mentioned its a holiday and it is hot out. That is a perfect combination but there a lot of concerns that a lot of people will had outside and spread coronavirus. There are people who can be asymptomatic and that is a concern. We are going to chat with the general manager of the San Francisco recreation and parks about what popular outdoor spots will be like today and tips for visitors. We know some destinations in San Francisco are crowded this weekend but dolores park Good Health Experts worry about asymptomatic people carrying coronavirus and spreading it to others. They say the virus is still out there, so if you do spend time outside today, you still need to take precautions like wearing a mask and keeping your distance. One thing that may keep people inside mperatures are expected in the sun bay area cities and is much as people want to be outside, some may limit their time in the sun. We caught up with a woman this morning who told us about her walking plan today. Its going to be pretty hot today, so i dont know if i will get the after one in or not. In addition to slowing the spread of coronavirus, officials want you to limit Time Outdoors because of unhealthy air quality. The bay area air Quality Management district issued the first spare the air alert of the year. We will be talking to the park in just a few minutes and we will have all of the information at noon. Monitoring the risk of exposure through new technology from apple and google to weigh in on the latest efforts to really ramp up Contact Tracing globally we are joint right now, live by the chief medical officer of telemedicine service. Renee, good morning to you. Thank you for having me. Lets dive right into this. These new tools out there to be associated with Contact Tracing. Is this something that you believe has legs here, that will work in the future . I think it is necessary at the moment, we are in the middle of a pandemic and we need to know how the virus is moving around, how it is. But it needs to be limited in its endeavor. In other words, once we have gotten control of the pandemic we need to limit what we are tracing and for whom, and why. Patients have the ability to update settings on their phones to correct these things and i think its important to remember that. And you think about all of the people who have phones around the world and maybe some who dont. But i would think the more people who actually download the apps, this will be more successful . Absolutely, i think it is a really important part of tracking how this virus is moving. Let me ask you more, i feel like were going back in time to doctors visits, the doctors would come to your house, are you experiencing a huge boost in telemedicine . It has been very busy and its been a wonderful thing to be able to deliver access through telemedicine visits. So yes, we are like many Telemedicine Companies experiencing this. But what separates us is that we are able to deliver housecalls, teletherapy, remote monitoring. So we are really at heel. Com, a unique way for patients to get access to care. Is there concern, here we are in a major metropolitan area, but across the country there are many rural parts and maybe they just dont have the wifi to connect via telemedicine. And that population of america doesnt have access to telemedicine. It is such a great point, heel. Com in particular has made it very easy to make a phone call and receive some kind of access to care. But you are absolutely right, that we think a lot about our patients in rural areas, with the ability to use wifi or a computer might be a limiting factor. I think probably another important part of this is that i have heard stories of people who say i dont want to go to the Doctors Office right now. I am worried about covid19 but they are feeling symptoms for something. Are you hearing stories about people delaying medical care because they dont want to go to a Doctors Office or the hospital . Absolutely, absolutely. That is what we try to fix in our own operation, we know that patients are scared at the moment. On the other hand, its not a good idea to not take necessary medications or get your usual screenings done. In other words, soon many of the states will start opening up with the ability to do mammograms, and paps. These kinds of things are really important for womens health. People need access to care for bone strength. All of the sorts of important parts of how we take care of patients will begin to open up and we want to be able to continue to deliver that access. Fortunately that is the access we can at the very least deliver with telemedicine calls whether by video or by phone. All right, chief medical officer, rene, i know it is a holiday, i appreciate you taking the time to be with us. They key. Thank you so much for having me.
