When you go into making sourdough keep that in mind. Practice patients. Just because your starter becomes like a member of the family it is a pet, you have to feed it. You just need a couple of basic things. But, to get the perfect starter and really start to perfect your bread. You do need a couple of pieces of equipment. Be sure to have some jars that are about a quart in size. And, a kitchen scale. All you really do to get going on making your starter is to weigh out and tear ear scales he could have the weight of your jar, but be sure to write down the weight of your jar for later feedings. It takes about six days from start to finish to get your starter up and running. That way you can start making bread. Like you said its a labor of love. You are going to use about 100 grams of white flour. Right into your jar here. And you can have equal amounts of lukewarm regular tap water here. Then you go ahead and put that into your jar. And, it is going to mix it all up. Then you are done that is your first day and you are all good to go. So many people get this wrong. Ive tried it before and you are a professional, i am not, if you get it wrong, the whole thing doesnt work, you have to follow directions, especially if youre doing it for the first time rather closely right . You definitely want to follow the instructions. I have put together a nice, comprehensive, detailed list of everything you need to do from first feeding to last to get your starter going. It is up on the ktvu. Com website. I also included all the instructions to make your first set. As i mentioned, yeah, you do want to be able to follow everything pretty much to the teeth. Once you have your starter done it takes about six days. Then you can start making your bread. So, you do need some equipment. I want to go over that with you guys really quickly. We have been baking bread in our house for about two years and every time we do it it changes just a little bit. Keep working with it, write down your notes on your bread. She can continue to perfect your taste. You dont need any kind of crazy gadgets is making me pretty straightforward and basic. You want a digital thermometer she can always keep the temperature of your water. You want to have some plastic and metal thatll help you get your dough in and out and cut it. All you really need is either a dutch oven, like i have here, also the combo cooker. Which also allows you to make some pretty awesome bread. This works just as well. Mix in a large mixing bowl with a lid just to be able to make sure i dont have to take everything out every time i do my bread. Have a digital scale. Again, it doesnt take that much time, it really is just a lot of downtime. Just make sure that you are taking care of paying attention to the timeline. To explain some of the changes were joined by the District Attorney, good morning. Good morning, how are you today . I am well, thank you very much. I think a lot of people are worried, especially essential workers when you go to the supermarket. You see that they are kind of modernday heroes because they are working and they are worried about getting sick. What is your office doing to protect those kinds of workers. You are absolutely right, we are tremendously appreciative of all of our frontline workers, healthcare workers, police, paramedics, folks keeping essential services operated like our food services. And you know, pharmaceutical Distribution Centers and, all of our places where people go to get essential goods. The reality is we are in the midst of a Global Health crisis. The last thing we want our Community Members to worry about is risking their safety because their employer is unnecessarily requiring them to come to work. Now, when we try to make clear, as a city, is that employers and nonessential businesses who tell their employees to come to work are endangering the health and safety of their workers, as well as the general public. This new advisory orders employees to follow the city order which expanded the previous orders and restrictions, and extended the shelter in place orders until may 3rd. That means all nonessential businesses Must Immediately cease San Franciscobased activities. If you are working in an essential business, such as a Grocery Store or, healthcare services, then employers are to minimize the number of workers coming in and work on a skeleton crew. That is what we are doing in the District Attorneys office and, we hope other folks can participate in keeping San Francisco safe. There was a lot of confusion early on about what is an essential business. I think a lot of people were taking, not a lot of people, but some businesses were taking advantage of that gray area. Have you made businesses which essential, and which are not . There is a detailed list of what is included as an essential business in the order itself. But some examples or any healthcare facility, grocery or food providers. Businesses that provide the necessities and services for economically disadvantaged. Media, gas stations, banks, mail, shipping companies, laundromats, you know, childcare. But, the detailed list is in the order itself and we do want people to consult with that if there is any doubt about whether their business is essential, and employees should consult that list as well if they are being asked to come into work. Do you have a certain type of business that you have seen that is not complying with these orders . You dont have to name specific businesses, but what type of businesses are not complyincall complaining about nonessential employees being required to come into work. One of them was any law firm, and, the other one was in the Entertainment Industry related position. We are investigating those calls. And, we know that three what one has received hundreds of calls. There are a lot of questions about construction work. And, the department of building inspection is working to determine how to proceed in those calls. And, we are hoping that we can get willful compliance from the community and all employers to avoid the need to prosecute any of these cases. Some people do want right . Absolutely. We want everybody to get back to work as soon as it is safe to do so. The San Francisco District Attorney, thank you for joining us this morning. Thank you stay healthy, stay safe. Thank you.
