Viewers have been sending us many questions concerning the coronavirus. And ktvu is here to help. Thank you for joining us. Lets start with this question here. What are the differences in symptoms between allergies, a cold and the coronavirus . Something many people want to know here. Sure. What i want you to remember about allergies is itchy. Connect those words together. Your ice are gonna itch, your nose is gonna itch, your stloet gonna itch. Youre gonna have a little tickle in your throat. And youre gonna want to clear your throat. Its not gonna be a fullblown cough. When it comes to the flu, youre gonna get a fever. Youre gonna get lots of fatigue. And the onset of symptoms is gonna be pretty quick. You get a headache, body aches, that kind of stuff. When it comes to coronavirus, obviously simples are a little bit different. But also its hard because the lines are a little bit blurred between all these disease. For coronavirus, what were seeing is people have a fever above 100 degrees. They have a dry cough. Youre not producing anything. And in addition, they have shortness of breath. Also you need to remember that when you are hit with coronavirus, usually the onset of symptoms is a little bit more prolonged and drawnout compared to the flu. The flu, youre gonna get hit immediately. The incubation period is shorter. So a lot of patients like i got hit by a bus today. Thats very different from coronavirus. People start feeling sick then they progressively get sicker. So allergies is the itch. Connect that together. Allergies is the itch. Remember. That a lot of people have that question. And its a very good one. All right. We have a lot of essential work 30s have to go to work now. And a lot of them take public transportation. The next question, is it safe . Actually i had this question, is it safe to go to the doctor if you have an appointment . Its a big question. And the real question is what kind of appointment are you talking about . Because as were seeing in life and realtime, doctors are changing the way they see patients now in the face of this new coronavirus. What most doctors are doing is theyre doing telehealth visits. So you cannot just walk swoe your doctorsof. Number 1. You have to call the doctor, and you have to talk to them about what you need to come in for. And after you have that conversation with your provider, theyre gonna figure out for you what the next best step for you is. Whether that means going to the clinic and seeing. Or treating i over the phone and providing you with the right medication without having to come in. We were talking about the stayathome for entire state of california. A lot of people are trying to figure out what to do. Some of them are going out by themselves to exercise in parks, hiking, that type of thing. But is it safe to have friends over to your house, to play board games or hang out or whatever it is, as long as its under a certain number . You want the real answer . Yeah, we want the real answer. The real answer is no. When you have social gatherings, its very hard to keep that distance of six feet between you and another person. Its very hard. Its not realistic. Youre gonna be eating food, touching things. A lot of new surfaces are gonna be touched. And this is what were trying to kind of stop the spread with. And we dont want people to hang out. We dont want the social interaction because we dont know whos positive. Thats what we need to remember. Because of the lack of testing, we just dont know who out there is positive. But doesnt have symptoms. Sounds like were having some technical difficulties with the doctors microphone at the moment. Well get back to her later in the newscast. Well send it over to mark with a look at the weather now. Yeah, some changes in the bay area weather pattern this weekend. Were talking about another system headed our way. For tomorrow, saturday, partly cloudy skies. It will be mild out there. Upper 50s to the upper 60s. Maybe around 70 degrees. And then on sunday, thatll be the day well have more clouds. And well be tracking some shower chances. Especially by sunday afternoon and into sunday evening. Saturday some clouds. Sunday more clouds. We bring back those shower chances in the bay area. Heres the satellite as you can see. And for the most part, we have clear to partly cloudy skies across the bay area this afternoon as we come in closer. Just a little bit. Green showing up on the radar here. Still a few popup showers out there. Most of the bay area is dry. Still some scattered clouds. And a few popup showers in porks of the east bay right now. Current numbers, were checking on those. We have been warming up. Santa rosa 65. Walnut creek, 63. San jose 61. And San Francisco checking in 60 degrees. Our next system is out here. You can see the circulation well offshore. It will be drifting closer to our coastline over the next 24 hours to 48 hours. For this evening though, we just have a few clouds. And heres our camera looking toward the golden gate. Looking up in the north bay. And a few clouds paying us a visit this afternoon as we head into your friday evening. Overnight lows, 30s and 40s. Partly cloudy skies. Some patchy fog to start out the day. Heres the forecast model thing as we cycle this into your friday night and saturday. A few clouds and a slight chance once again of a sprinkle tomorrow afternoon. Not widespread. Definitely more clouds by tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening. And sunday afternoon, showers back in the forecast area. Especially for the south bay. Well talk more about that system and update your fiveday forecast coming up in a little bit.
