Democratic president ial candidate Mike Bloomberg has met the requirements to join the other candidates on the debate stage tomorrow night in the state of nevada. As Lauren Blanchard reports it will be his first appearance on the debate stage and he is preparing to be criticized by another candidates. Former new york city mayor Michael Bloomberg making the dem debate deadline being the sixth candidate to qualify in the poed podium. Hes at 19 far behind Bernie Sanders but ahead of former front runner joe biden. Wednesday night will be the first time bloomberg takes the stage while the other five qualifying candidates have already debated each other eight times before. Michael bloomberg is starting at 60 miles an hour in the middle of everything. He has no time to improve or not. Bloomberg will have to defend himself and his past policies against candidates like sanders and Elizabeth Warren who are critical of the billionaires selffunded campaign. We say to mayor bloomberg, we are a democracy not an ol giancarlo stantony. Youre not going to buy this election. He will not be on the ballot in nevada when caucus goers meet this saturday. The Nevada Democratic party had planned to use the same caucus app as the Iowa Democrats but scrapped that plan after the disastrous first in the nation caucuses. This new technology has made it a big challenge to ensure we get it right and that voters have a good experience when they go in and cast their ballots. Wednesday is the first time well see bloomberg on the debate stage. It wont be until super tuesday next month that we see his name next month officially on a ballot. Ktvu fox 2 news. Senator Bernie Sanders is continuing to promote the nevada caucuses after campaigning in the east bay. Thousands of people turned out for a sanders rally yesterday for the senator talked about health care, Climate Change, and income and equality. He told his crowd of supporters quote the more than people are tired of greed and corruption. They are tired of three people owning more wealth than the bottom half of america. They are tired of tax breaks for billionaires with a half a million americans sleeping out on the streets. Actor and activist danny glover introduced senator sanders saying the move sanders is creating with transform the country. Sanders speech was interrupted by top Animal Rights groups interrupting the rally. The protesters said they wanted to call attention to what they call the Dairy Industries abuse of cows and calves. Thats just the norm. What do you want bernie to do about it . I want him to speak up against this injust. A pro tegser from the same group took the mi xrvmd out of sanders hands. Two other protesters poured fake blood on the paed yum before they were removed from the stage. Sanders talked one on one with ktvu political reporter greg lee about super tuesday when voters in california and 13 other states head to the polls. Looking ahead to super tuesday, how important is it for your team to do well in this state . Its the largest state in america. Its the state with more delegates. Obviously california is very important. And im very proud we have thousands and thousands of volunteers who every weekend were knocking on thousands of dooris. Im here in california were going to work as hard as we can to win the state because the candidate who wins the state is in a very strong position to win the nomination and defeat the most dangerous president in modern america history. What do you tell bay area voters about the importance of addressing it . Tonight unbelievably in the richest country of the world, 500,000 americans including 30,000 veterans are sleeping out on the streets or in shelters. That is immoral and wrong. On top of that youve got 18 million families spending half of their income on housing. That is insane our proposal is to build 10 Million Units of low and Affordable Housing to deal with the homeless crisis to make sure working families dont get forced out of their homes. You were critical of Mike Bloomberg yesterday. He says he thinks he could buy this race, but he is rising in the polls. Are you concerned or what do you make of that . Mike bloomberg has the right to run for president like anybody else. But i dont think democracy about buying. Especially with the record he has instituting in new york city when he was mayor. Racist stop and frisk policy. This is the guy who said we should one of the richest people in america we should cut Social Security and medicare and medicaid. This is a guy who was not sympathetic to even raising the minimum wage. Not sympathetic to raising taxes on the rich. He may have all the money in the world but at the end of the day i do not believe his money is going to elect him as president. If you win the nomination, how do you attract some of the voters that have been supporting some of your more centrist counter parts . I think among all of the Democratic Candidates and i think among virtual among all of our supporters, there is an understanding that while we have differences as democrats, our differences pale compared to the differences we have with donald trump. And, i have said and i think probably all of my opponents have said that were going to ban together no matter who the nominee is, i hope its me, but no matter who it is to make sure we defeat the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country. Thank you, for your time. Thank you. Weather bay area weather has some sunshine coming down, steve. No rain yet. There was a hint on friday. Temperatures are cooler today. 65 san jose.
