In the video, kenney says a Milpitas High School teacher appeared in the classroom dressed up as the rapper common for halloween. His face painted black. He painted his face. I go to a very diverse school. To see he really thought that was okay and it was a joke, it really hurt, especially being one of the handful of black people that we have at our school. Reporter in the video, the teacher imitates rapper common in a commercial for microsoft. Kenney said the teacher wore black face for two periods at the school before an administrator caught on. The teacher were told, an e tech instructor at Milpitas High School, formally a history teacher at russell middle school. Parents are just as outraged. I was going up to the school to ask why did this happen . How long was he in black face . Did you know he even stepped on campus like this . Reporter the Milpitas Unified School district is investigating and issued this statement. Black face paint has an historical and present day connotation of racism that demeans those of african ancestry. The act was disparaging to our students, parents, colleagues, and the milpitas community we serve. My first reaction was, really . That was my first reaction. My next reaction was, okay. The School District would not release his identity, citing its a personnel matter, but the district did say hes been a teacher here for more than five years and is well respected. Azenith smith in milpitas tonight. Police say some type of confrontation led to a shooting that injured two people in east oakland. It happened about 2 00 on richie and hillside streets in the east mont neighborhood. There was a twocar collision in the neighborhood before the shooting. Police wont say whether the two are related. Their conditions are not known tonight. No arrests have been made. Now to developing news out of Monterey County where a fire has prompted some evacuations. It started at about 7 00 tonight and has burned about an acre near highway 1 in big sur, not far from the mintana resort. Cal fire says crews have stopped the forward progress of that fire but have evacuated 60 units from that hotel as a precaution. Now to the kincade fire where Officials Say theyve stopped the fire from growing. Officials say its burned more than 121 square miles. Thats more than twice the size of the entire city of San Francisco. Containment now stands at 78 and full containment is expected late thursday. Four firefighters have been injured battling the flames. More than 370 buildings including 174 homes have been destroyed. Tomorrow Sonoma County is expected to open a local Assistance Center where people affected by the kincade fire can get help to get back on their feet. The Highway Patrol is investigating an armed carjacking on 580 in oakland. It started when the suspect crashed into the victims car. They say the suspect forced everyone out on to the shoulder of the freeway including a child, prompting officers to shut down the eastbound lanes. Reporter at 5 47 sunday morning, california Highway Patrol was called out to a twovehicle collision on eastbound 580 in oakland near park boulevard. But this was not a typical accident scene. When chp officers arrived, they only found one vehicle, a chrysler 300 sedan. There were three people standing outside in the traffic lanes as well when they got there. Reporter the three people, two men and a young child, told officers they were heading on a fishing trip when the driver of the chrysler 300 sedan crashed into their white toyota highlander. After they pulled over, the man driving the chrysler then stalled their vehicle. The people in the highlander advised they were going to call the police and get a traffic report. When they did that, he pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun, fired one shot in the air. Reporter the suspect forced the two men and child out of the highlander and sped off in their vehicle. Chp says he got off i580 then crashed again. Now he fled the scene on foot and were unsure where hes at. Reporter while officers continue to search for the suspect, investigators found out that there was even more to this story. While investigating, we found out that he had carjacked the chrysler earlier in the morning from richmond. Reporter officers are currently reviewing Surveillance Video from the area. Two men accused of murder have broken out of a jail in Monterey County and are on the run tonight. Jonathan salazar on the right, both 19. They managed to escape the Monterey County jail in salinas this morning. Theyve been locked up since last year awaiting trial. Anyone with information should call police. The Sheriffs Office says the two should be considered armed and dangerous. Police have arrested a man suspected of setting eight fires in the east bay regional parks. 42yearold Roman Montalvo already had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and now faces arson and failure to register as a sex offender. The fire starred shortly before 5 00 last night and quickly burned about 10 acres. Fire crews matched a description of the man and that led them to montalvo. No homes were damaged. Southern california edison says its equipment may have sparked the maria fire in ventura county. The utility says it reenergized a power line 13 minutes before the fire broke out. So far the maria fire has burned nearly 10,000 acres. Its now 50 contained as of this evening and at least two structures have been destroyed but no injuries have been reported. This friday marks one year since the campfire broke out in butte county. It started on november 8th of last year and killed 85 people, many of whom lived in the town of paradise.
