Been popping up today. Firefighters knockdown flames of a new fire near lake sonoma. This fire started around 7 30 am west of geyserville. We have video from skyfox. You can see the fire burned a small area of brush. There were no major damages. And daly city, crews put out of the grass fire an hour ago. That was reported around 10 45 am near hamilton avenue interstate 280. No one was hurt and no word on how either fire started. Firefighters are optimistic about the progress overnight against the kincade fire. Allie rasmus was after their 40 containment and firefighters are considering that a victory for now. The firefighters and Engine Companies across the western u. S. , we saw some of them at a briefing that cal fire had this morning at the fairgrounds. Its a morning meeting where everyone got the update about the new containment percentages and the new lines of the fire and where its most active. At the meeting we saw firefighters in uniform from as far away as evart, washington and from santa fe, new mexico. Cal fire leaders think the firefighters at the briefing for the work theyve done in the progress theyve made so far. I would say last night was a huge success. We had the wind surfaced just like we expected and we were able to make it through that most intense portion of the red flag warnings with no significant increase. We would try to get as much light around it as possible at some of the main concerns is the eastern section toward lake county because thats where the most heat is at and thats where some of those heavier materials are that are burning. Reporter also mentioned that the briefing, a warning from the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office they were following up on reports there may be people impersonating firefighters in those evacuation zones. To put that warning out to the other firefighters in case they saw someone in the evacuation zones who look like they maybe should not be there to double check their credentials. The Sheriffs Office said they have 300 Law Enforcement officers helping enforce those evacuation zones and road closures and helping to prevent looting. The overall message from cal fire is they made a lot of progress overnight and theyre happy about that but they are not out of the woods yet. They say they will focus their efforts today around mount st. Helena, Copper Mountain and Pine Mountain with this of theres a lot of dense vegetation that could burn. Allie rasmus, ktvu fox 2 news. Evacuation orders for the kincade fire are in place for parts of sonoma and lake county. This is a map of the affected areas. The red part is where the fire is burning. The purple shows where there are mandatory evacuation orders including healdsburg and windsor. The larger zones blue, indicate where people were told they can return to their homes but they are still in an evacuation warning and there should be ready to evacuate again quickly if necessary. We have improving conditions but not perfect conditions for the fire crews. Look at the peak gusts from this morning. This event was weaker than anticipated but still you can see some of the wind pulsing up. The healdsburg hills, gusts at 37. The wind advisory has expired but its still very dry. Relative humidity around 815 . That is still a concern because that means the fire could still take off. Look at the current wind. Mount st. Kern county is expected to get the goahead tomorrow but restoring power to thousands could take days after nearly half 1 million customers were left in the dark. At last check pg e said they have thousands of employees and contractors and also 44 choppers up doing inspections and working on restoring power. Fortunately pg e did announce overnight they were not going to cut off alameda, contra costa, Santa Clara County santa cruz and San Mateo County because of improving conditions. That did save about 30,000 customers from dealing with a no power situation. More than half 1 million customers had no power overnight because the forecasted high wind in the area and the latest round of adages also affected parts of 22 counties. The shut off starting yesterday morning. Roughly 400,000 impacted customers were those who were originally hit by Public Safety power shutoffs over the weekend. This latest round came after the head of the company, bill johnson, agree to credit customers affected by the october 9 shut off. The credit is only for the october 9 outage. Eugenia says residential customers will get 100 and Small Business customers will receive 250 as the governor requested. No word yet on reimbursement possibility for the outage this week. Santa rosa firefighters investigating a house fire that broke out just before 3 30 am on mission boulevard and the Rincon Valley neighborhood. The response was larger than usual because the department had extra engines and firefighters on standby because of the kincade fire and the red flag warning in effect. A small fire that gets going to turn into a conflagration if the wind were to kick up. We are still under those conditions so we want to make sure anything that starts up that we really knock it out quickly and effectively and the way to do that is by adding personnel which are engines and ladder trucks. No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. Power in the neighborhood was out as part of the Public Safety power shutoff. The cause is under investigation. Smart train is offering free rides on a limited schedule between santa rosa and san rafael. Service was canceled this week because of the power shut off. These observations change by the hour so we will be watching for that but still it would expect some haze in the bay area skies today and maybe into tomorrow morning as things cool off overnight. Some of that haze could be trapped in the lower levels. Watching for that first thing tomorrow morning. As far as the wind speeds, the wind will continue to decrease. At 4 00 this afternoon, we take this into thursday and this is a welcome change. No wind event for tomorrow. No wind event as we take this into your friday. Wind maybe around 1015 which is normal for us. Not talking about the extreme wind that boosts the fire danger. Force cast highs this afternoon mainly in the 60s and the 70s.
