Later this morning really just a couple of hours, President Trump is coming to the bay area for a fundraiser in silicon valley. Details on this event are being kept quiet by organizers. Even for those who are paying thousands of dollars to attend. Protesters are gearing up as well. They have already arrived in this location where we are. We are standing next alpine road and Portola Valley and that behind us, you can see a tarp on the ground, and an orange piece of fabric your. This is what will become the trump baby balloon. This is an valley. Next alpine road. They believe that the president ial motorcade will pass through here. So, volunteers with this Nonprofit Group in charge of the balloon drove up to san diego last night. They are putting up this balloon and they want President Trump to see it as he drives by. This balloon is a caricature of the president depicted in a diaper with a cell phone in his hand. The balloon has flown in protests of the president across the country and around the world. There is actually 8 replicable lens like it, and these volunteers came from san diego. The balloon takes about 40 minutes, 45 minutes to inflate. Its about 7 meters by 4 meters and again, they hope the president sees it as he is driving by. The biggest message we want to send is that trump is not welcome in california. He has violated so many of our standards, or morals. A lot of people in california just like him. He is the strongest favorability rating here in california. But, there is a lot of money here. And he is fundraising. Thats exactly why the president is here in the bay area. He is here for a 2020 Campaign Fundraiser for his reelection. Organized by the Republican National committee. The rncs invitation leads to ticket prices ranging from 1000 per person all the way up to 100,000 per couple. Organizers say even in the bay area they had no problem selling these tickets. A lot of my friends who held their noses and voted for him said in good conscience he could not vote for him in 2016, im not hearing that this time around. We dont know the exact location of the fundraising luncheon. Thats kept under wraps. People attending will find out at the last minute. It is expected to be after the luncheon, President Trump is expected to attend the fundraising dinners beverly hill. He will go to other fundraising events in la in the foothills tomorrow. Here and Portola Valley, over the next hour or so we should start seeing the trump baby trump balloon being inflated. This is a Public Parking patrol a valley for sod rosati field is right behind us. Over on the other side of this parking lot earlier, the San Mateo County sheriffs officers pulled up. They were going to make this part of their mobile command area. The president s motorcade is passing right through here. The alpine road right alongside this parking lot. But because of the protesters who have set up here in the Media Presence here, mattel county sheriffs will be setting up the mobile command center somewhere else. They can inflate the balloon her as planned. Live in for toler valley,. Fox 20 news. From Portola Valley, were bringing that live picture again of air force one. This is at an airfield in albuquerque, new mexico. It looks like the president is on board the plane and that plane will take off shortly, arriving scheduled 11 10 this morning at moffitt airfield in mountain view. Its a bay area prepares for President Trumps arrival we are joined in studio by the republican chairman. Matt, good morning to you. Did you buy a ticket . Are you going . I did. Have to race down there as quick as i can now. We appreciate you flyby. You excited . I am excited. Its the first time President Trump has been to the bayer recency inauguration. I think a lot of republicans and trump support is a very, very excited. The event rolled up very early. More people try to get my tickets. Its supposed to generate this old california. 15 million for the camping. But i want to talk about the homeless crisis. The president has talked about california specifically. The governor of california new simpson the president yesterday saying we are open to some help, specifically about 50,000 rental subsidy vouchers. What broken federal government play when it comes to solving the homeless crisis in california . I wish california can solve it on its own and they have had plenty of opportunities to help theyve actually made it worse. The federal government has federal land. They have federal buildings. They can start to help. They need to intervene because the state of california and municipalities are not doing enough of a job handling. Its become a very sad state of affairs for the state and the homeless crisis. The state policies that are coming out of sacramento just continue to make it worse . What can the federal government do . What do you think President Trump can offer up here . I dont know specifically. Have potentially federal buildings that have old military bases they could possibly house people at. If there is money, there is grounds, there is resources. Theres help. Out that they can give. Drug rehabilitation, all types of things that essentially they could give. I dont know what the specific proposals ive come out yet. I think theyre still exploring it. We show that live picture of air force one in new mexico. The Campaign Rally being held at. What you think is the strategy to win. Its state he lost to hillary clinton. If you go specifically after latino voters, not just in new mexico, but across the country. I think is going across all voters. The message is simple. The economy is better. Unemployment is at record lows. The country is better off now that was four years ago. And i think a lot of people are feeling that and a lot of people are excited to see the new energy in the country. I know he is also going to win the popular vote. The campaign has pledged to do some real campaigning here in california which will be exciting to see. Republican party in california, im curious of your take on it. Do you run into people who are republicans but dont tell people they are republicans . Especially in the bay area. I have a lot of friends and even family of the bay area who are registered republicans are probably more conservative than i am and keep it very much under wraps. They dont like to come to events because they dont wanted to get out they fear that it could hurt their job. Youve seen it in silicon valley. A lot of people lost their jobs. Have been lactose and publicly humiliated. Let me ask you. The point of me asking you that is this. When you look at the statehouse, the capital, the majority is democratic lawmakers. In order to get republican lawmakers, do you feel that there are some qualified republicans out there who are not running for office based on what you just told me . Absolutely. But one back point is that the state legislature has a lower Approval Rating than President Trump does. The state legislator is a super majority democrat. But yeah, we definitely have some alist republicans in the state who dont want to run and lose districts and probably lose, and dont want to have that on the record. So, it is tough recruiting high quality candidates and very hard seats. But we could do a better job is a party of doing that. Is a division between elected republicans in office in california in the face of the party . That division always exists in one form or another. You have got plenty of electives who are supportive of trumps and are in line with the base. And you got others who are not. That i was happens. You see that with the Democratic Party as well. You say you are going to the fundraiser today. Are you going to expect to meet the president today . I didnt donate enough to do that. 35,000 to get a picture. 100,000 to get up to two. If you guys want to follow me, prepared eraser. Thanks for the conversation. We will send it back to you, sell. Thank you very much.
