New information about the fire in oakland that burned the Apartment Building under construction. It started last night just before 10 00 at stanford avenue and occidental street. We have video posted on twitter showing the flames and firefighters kept it from spreading. No one was hurt and firefighters say its too early to know whether it was arson. There was smoke and fire so they quickly went into the fire attack and began applying water and initially from the interior and due to the structural instability because it is under construction, and also visible signs of instability, and we regressed to the outside of the structure and continued applying water. The neighbor say the building had been under construction for at least the last few months. There have been at least three construction building fires near the boundary at Oakland Emeryville in the last few years and one ktvu viewer sent a drone video of firefighters during the firefight. The Justice Department has announced plans to resume execution of federal death row inmates for the First Time Since 2003. Attorney general william barr says review of Death Penalty policy and use of lethal injection drugs have been completed. He said they have cleared the way for federal executions to continue and william barr ordered the bureau of prisons to schedule the execution of five men among the 61 federal inmates on death row. There are not that many federal Death Penalty cases and most are on the stateside. There are 29 states that have the Death Penalty with 21 states that do not. President trump has spoken several times in favor of the Death Penalty. This change puts the issue in the National Dialogue head of the 2020 election and many democratic president ial candidate issued statements opposing the federal execution and governor gavin newsom issued a statement the intentional killing of another person is wrong an hour Death Penalty system has been a failure. In march the governor signed an executive order placing moratorium on the Death Penalty in california. The federal government restored the Death Penalty in 1988 and since then federal authorities have only excavated three people with the most recent in 2003. Despite that just the Just Department prosecuting cases and Court Sentencing the defendant to death. Several marines arrested in Camp Pendleton in california accused of several crimes including human smuggling. Ray bogan has the details. Reporter 16 marines at Camp Pendleton are arrested in dramatic fashion thursday morning with authority storming the camp during the battalion formation which happens with about 800 marines present. The marines are accused of various crimes including human smuggling and drugrelated offenses. The rest stemming from the investigation into another case involving two rain suspected of smuggling three migrants across the southern border in exchange for payment after successful passage. The investigations were ongoing and they have identified the identity of 16 marines as potentially being associated with or connected with those particular allegations or charges for those first two marines. Reporter the connection of the two sets of apprehensions is unknown and eight of the marines were detained and questioned about drugrelated activities not linked to the arrest. Ray bogan, fox news. This is near lowell street on stanford avenue and was under construction and supposed to be the workspace with 7 or 9 units. The owner says he is disappointed by what happened. The Property Owner says there was a construction crew out here last night picking up tools but they did not notice anything suspicious. More people said they first tried drugs in the summer compared to other times of the year. The Texas School District will start drug testing students in the fall in the middle and High School Students have to take part in a drug test to take part in Extracurricular Activities or park on campus. The Alameda County Sheriff Deputies are looking for person that will get a person outside of a gun store just before 8 00 last night in front of the n m liquor in cold north hayward. The bicycle was left on the ground and evidence markers just outside of the store. The Sheriffs Office said the victim was rushed to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
