Jeff paul has the story from ridgecrest. Reporter it was the strongest earthquake to hit Southern California in two decades. A few minor injuries and isolated damage reported as well as power outages. Officials are working to repair the damage. We do know that there have been significant power outages. Reporter it hit thursday morning and followed with multiple aftershocks. Folks from las vegas to the Pacific Coast felt the quake. Minor damage reported as far away as the los angeles area, more than 150 miles away. Mycole apartment started moving and the roof cracked. It sounded like hundreds of pebbles hitting the rough at one time. Reporter President Trump was briefed. While the quake may have rattled nerves, there were no fatalities reported. And now they are ready to begin the recovery process. We have a plan for whats going on in ridgecrest. We are getting the resources and will have a lot of people out there to help. That man reportedly assaulted people last night. We have more from bodega bay. Reporter this is a typically safe neighborhood and not much happens here. This community sits on a golf course. We saw the chp unit with front end damage on the back of a tow truck. We believe the suspect may have hit that unit and that is what prompted a deputy to open fire. We understand this started at 8 00 last night when officers got a call to come out on reports of multiple people being assaulted. When they arrived, two people needed hospital treatment and they found the suspect in a stolen car down the road on in pelican loop. They say an assault led up to that deputy opening fire. This is a nice area and if it was a domestic issue of some sort, this is a low crime area. Reporter we saw investigators searching a grassy cliffside just south of pelican loop right along the coast. It is not clear what they were searching for. We do know that they called in police to help investigate this officer involved shooting. The circumstances that led up to the assault and shooting are unclear and condition of the suspect and victim are unknown at this time. More information will be released later today. Ktvu fox2 news. A Holiday Celebration that got out of hand may have sparked an overnight house fire. They believe a group of children could be responsible. Here is the latest. This is the aftermath of a fire where one car was totaled and two others damage nearby. These now charred free, trees that went up like matchsticks. It started before 11 00 last night. Citrus trees seven or you bark and they really lit up the sky at 1834 loop court. San jose fire responded and witnesses say a number of teens are in the neighborhood. Adults were there as well. Contra costcounty fire investigators are looking for the causes of three dozen fires from overnight. At least five are caused by fireworks including this one. No homes burned but a long stretch of grassland was stretched. Firefighters battle flames in pittsburgh. They were so busy that they needed to call an extra firefighters. The cause of this fire has not been determined but we are told fireworks were found at two other fires. In antioch there was a fire on wildhorse road. They suspect many fires were started by fireworks even though all fireworks are banned in the county. There were also medical emergencies from people hurt using fireworks. The Transportation Network companies are staging lot with 244 more spots for lyft and uber drivers. It is located near the san bruno exit off the north 101. It should help relieve some of the traffic while easing some of the complaints of congestion and delays and lots by drivers by passengers. Especially after the changes, it could take 40 minutes to get a position in a lot and sometimes you were not able to get into the lot because it was full. Hopefully this will alleviate the amount of drivers being able to park. The lot was originally set to open last month along with other lots but that purse back the opening. Police were clearing out the sideshow near the onramp of interstate 880. They process 200 vehicles and the chp was called in to close onramps in that area. At least one person was hit by a car. The extent of their injuries is not know. The Oakland Police department is ramping up there crackdown on sideshows throughout the summer and they are working with the chp and other Neighboring Police departments. San Francisco Police say a suspect at a muni station was killed when he ran onto interstate 280 near geneva avenue. The suspect was trying to get away from police when he ran into lanes and was hit by a car and killed. It forced the closure of all the north around lanes for more than one hour. New information about the crash on the winding road that left one dead and another injured. The driver was a 36yearold from campbell and has been arrested a driving under the influence of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. This happened on Mount Hamilton road and two dozen san jose firefighters responded to the scene. The driver was able to climb out of the vehicle and up the hillside. The team use special equipment to get down the side but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. There will be more Highway Patrol officers out this weekend. They are cracking down on speeders and those driving under the influence. On patrol today with the chp, amy walker is looking for speeders. This vehicle clocked on radar at 82 Miles Per Hour. They are looking for cell phone violators including the driver of this minivan who got a written warning. You have your phone in your hand.
