The safety improvements including clearly painted vegan spaces, bike lanes and overhead traffic signals. Rob roth is joining us from the newsroom after speaking with mayor schaaf about her lyrical discourse. Reporter the questions are over the words acts of terrorism. That is how local mayor libby schaaf described President Trumps policies. Some viewers say she went too far. It was a choice of words by oakland mayor libby schaaf that prompted many ktvu viewers to sound off. During a discussion about president Donald Trumps threats of math deportation raids against illegal immigrants, schaaf said this to the anchor. We dont want these acts of terrorism to paralyze this good family. Are you calling what the president is doing acts of terrorism . I believe what he is doing is terrorizing our families. When president pending grade surface last year she sounded a warning that some could be affected. Reporter later we asked schaaf about her words and if they went too far. I do not apologize for saying this president uses terror as a weapon to scare people. Reporter is is the best way to raise political concerns . She bless elevated discourse and needs to rise above as a leader. That is where she can partner with other politicians and that is where you can move away from divisive language and discourse. Reporter the bottom line is, words matter and sometimes using certain words can drown out someones larger meeting. Do we know, is mayor schaaf planning once again to offer some sort of warning to the community if and when these immigration raids happen again here in the bay area . She hasnt said specifically. But you may remember that President Trump himself sort of signaled it so she didnt have to. This last time. But if it comes around again we will have to see what she does. Reporter before we get to our friend, mark spears here, ive got to show you the cover, the back cover of the new york post. While we are out here lamenting and mourning the loss of kd, they are celebrating. Nothing but net, that is what they are looking out in new york. As we bring mark spears, Senior Writer for the indy paid undefeated. You wrote about how possibly his feeling that he wasnt appreciated enough for the warriors could have been a possible reason for him leaving. There was a long combination of things. I think it all started at the parade, myers has done a phenomenal job. There was a quick thing where hes not appreciated as much as steph. There was a comment. There was the clipper game. Then there was a situation, not feeling appreciated by the fans. Feeling like i jumped on this bandwagon to get a championship and people dont realize that. Then you finish up with an injury. All in all this past year, it ended up being miserable. You think that is enough for him to turned out basically 57 million . Because when steph goes to the free throw line they are chanting mvp and he doesnt feel the love from warrior fans. You and i have been to many games. I feel like he was appreciated. I think it got better in the playoff. I talked to him about it and i said, did you notice the mvp chant before . No. He didnt hear it before. Come playoff time it was desperation time for the fans. Mvp chant and tshirts. Did you see a sign that said, please day . No. In fact i dont think i did. But i know the fans we spoke with, they have certainly wanted him to stay. No, no. He has been here that long. To his credit there was never any jealousy from steph. Or i need to be bigger. He was super welcoming but i think that durrant wanted more from all the fans involved. My take is that he was a guy searching for something and he may not find it. On instagram today is shed some light that he marches to the beat of his own drum. No man can speak or make decisions for me. Think for yourself and you will find the truth. Then he posted this also of him on a bike saying i wanted everywhere and the universe was on my side. Ive got to respect kd for the fact he has left money on the table the last 3 years to do what he wants to do. Im going to ask about the guy they got in return, dangelo russell. Were your fans, i dont know if they know a lot about him. Give us a nutshell on him. Is he a when your guys so they can move to the shea center with the second guy to score behind curry. And maybe an asset they can trade down the real road. I think people underestimate who he has. He is an allstar. He averages 21 points and seven assists. Is a great passer, phenomenal score. Under the circumstances, this is a blessing. The cover could have been bare and you this was one of the top 24 guys in the game. I think bob myers should get a hug from every fan that he was able to pull this off. This is a blow. Get ready for this, this is what he does. Do you know what it is . Call foul . He caused the icewater man. He also had the most prolific free throw season in that history. Andre, even more than kd if you are a longtime fan and have watched the championships here, that one hurt a little more even though he may not be as important as a player. Explained to the fans how they can give him up for no. And no player coming back. I saw him the other day in san francisco. I said you are signing a lot of books. I think there are people that think the book has something to do with it but he knew before that he could potentially get moved. You do think the book had something to do with it . I dont. But you never know. Perhaps. But this is a casualty of war, man. When you make big deals like this. Big bodies are involved. A guy like him has to fit. 10 million bucks and a lot of roster spots. We will see if the lakers him away. If memphis cuts in. They could be attracted to keeping him because they have young guys and he could be a great veteran for him. He could. 35 with plenty left in the tank. Real quick give me something on if you think Yvonne Looney will stay if they can pay him enough and if they need him. Working to get him back. But lets see if someone can tell if it will start in the 12 million range. They could definitely get him back. But as far as cousins is concerned, if he is back, things are bad for the nba. What is the going to get on the open market . But the question. More than looney i would think. The fact he has not been picked up yet, part of it i think is waiting for Kawhi Leonard. The domino to fall. If Kawhi Leonard doesnt go there or if he does maybe hes involved. Maybe hes not but that domino is holding him up. Right now, you got to be a little nervous because there are so many guys, yesterday 48 people got deals and he wasnt one of them. That guy has to make you nervous i wonder if people are worried. 3. 175 billion in money yesterday. And all of this contracts i dont think i would have made it. One that made and warriors fans knew it all along the klay thompson, low maintenance clay. Here is how he announce hes coming back. He did it on instagram. Im not leaving. Im not leaving. Im not [ bleep ] leaving. Reporter the wolf of wall street. But klay thompson, 5 years, 190 million. If you pull 100 bands, he would get half the votes and this guy would get the other half. I never thought he was going anywhere. He loves it here. Is not a guy that likes change. I hope you places whole career here. He and steph. And maybe one day they have a statue outside together. He did say warriors for life on this post as well. Speaking of statues we found out that joe lake of announce there will never be another 35 worn by a warriors player as long as hes the owner. Even though he played 3 years here they will retire it. Guys have been there 15 years and get nothing. If theres a way to earn in 3 years he did it. Mark spears of the undefeated, thank you much. I stopped. Checking on the weather weve got a nicelooking day today. Warmer than yesterday in some places. Cooler than others but cooler than you may expect for this time of year. This is the general pandered as we head into tomorrow. I want to point out that jet stream, the upper level wind. This dictates where the heat is and where the cool is. Underneath the jet stream, up in the upper atmosphere, look at the heat. Although he does in atlanta, dallas and in this area, youve got much cooler. Seattle, 59 tomorrow. Much cooler weather and the proximity of this low, the green and yellow area is the reason that our temperatures are going to stay on the mild side. For the next few days anyway. This area right here. You will see shower showing up in the northern cascades. Up around washington and oregon. A few clouds around here. Not much in the way of fog in length. There is fog, patchy fog at the coast. These hi, midlevel clouds will be around the next day or so. Partly cloudy and partly sunny as we go into the next few days. Current temperatures, 84 in concord, 82 in fairfield. Where do they stand up compared to yesterday . Oakland is warmer, fairfield is cooler, napa is warmer, novato is cooler. Clearly novato picked up the seabreeze. This pattern becomes perfect i think for this time of year for the fourth of july when you are worried about fireworks and worried about fire. We have a pattern that is allowing fire danger officials to stay off the red flag warnings and advisories and things like that. Got a pattern that will keep us on the mild side. So 90s, we will not see those. The hottest bay area locations, over the last few days through the holiday. The weekend will warm up a little bit but what you had today, here, is what you get tomorrow. More of the same with temperatures generally in the worst spot, upper 70s to the mid80s. We
