Reporter police were here earlier this evening reviewing the records of customer orders, hoping to identify a suspect. As of now, they do not know who he is. Police also obtained a video from inside the dennys. We want to warn you, some of the victims injuries are graphic. Fred can barely talk, eat or drink water after he says he tried to do the right thing and stick up for dennys employees. I dont like seeing people treated that way, especially, you know, people who work in the same businesses that i do. We get treated badly all the time. Reporter fred had just finished his job at the smoky pig when he went to the dennys on mowry avenue for a late night dinner around 2 30 sunday morning. He was in the lobby when he says he witnessed a man being verbally aggressive to the workers. He believes the man worked for door dash. This door dash guy came in and was really angry they werent taking care of him straightaway. Its dennys at 3 00 in the morning. I pity the people who have to deal with that. I just yelled out dude, calm down. They will get to you when they can. Its dennys. Reporter another patron chimed in. Fred stood up and thats when he says the suspected Delivery Driver repeatedly punched him in the face. I never raised my hands or said a threatening word other than calm down. Reporter fred says the attack lasted seconds before the man took off. Freds mother rushed him to the er at washington hospital. Dont yell at people or get your face smashed in . My heart is broken. I cant believe that. Reporter fred suffered a fractured nose and palate, and had two teeth knocked out. Fred described the man as in his early 20s. Door dash sent out a statement saying they are investigating the incident and will take action as appropriate including deactivating the driver from the platform. Dennys also sent a statement that said in part, we are shocked by the violence that took place. We are looking into the details of this unusual situation and the status of our guest that was injured. Fred now regrets his decision, especially since he doesnt have insurance. I would much rather be able to go to work tomorrow and not have to figure out how im going to pay for getting my teeth fixed or going to the emergency room. The victim was 14 or 15 years old at the time. In a letter, oakland bishop jacob barber told parishioners he will be appointing a replacement as soon as possible. As he did that, he then turned around and we noticed he had a large item in the back of his jacket. We didnt make the connection until he started to pull it out, that it was the hilt of the sword. Reporter just before 2 00 p. M. , police were called to the area for a reported stabbing involving the man in the hat. The victim approached the suspect, and as the victim was passing by the suspect, thats when the suspects maga hat fell to the ground, and thats when the suspect took out this word and stabbed the victim. Police say the victim had an injury to his hand in the suspect took off running with the sword. Swimming didnt witness the stabbing but gave police a description of the man he saw earlier. White, darker kind of square glasses, darker hair that was kind of down to his ears, a little bit wavy. He was the first African American priest in Northern California. How would he want people to remember him . A trailblazer, someone who tried to build bridges as best he could. I think there are members of the community who appreciated his ability to bring people together and that was the element that characterized his ministry and his life. When did you last talk to him and what did you talk about . We would leave each other telephone messages. He had a key to the rectory at Saint Benedict so he never left. He would come by, pick up his mail, we would say hello to each other. But i dont remember. It must be about a week ago. This is just completely unexpected . Did he have any Health Problems . Police in San Francisco are investigating a fatal crash that happened about a half mile from a shooting that was reported just minutes before. The crash happened around 3 00 this morning near Caesar Chavez and vermont. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. Police say minutes before the crash, officers received a report of gunshots in the area of tolan street and mckinnon avenue. Police have not said if the incidents are related. In santa rosa, a man was taken to the hospital after his house caught fire at 8 00 this morning near glenn street. Video on twitter shows flames shooting through the roof. The Fire Department says shortly after crews arrived, flames began spreading to the two Story Building next door that contained a business and an apartment. Firefighters got both fires under control about 40 minutes later. Investigators are still looking into the cause.
