They said that they are encouraged by the support that they are getting from the community. Teachers say of the 560 students at melrose, only six studen a lines to come to school on friday. This evening and overnight into tuesday. It will stall out. Thats going to be the problem. It looks like a santa rosa and the Russian River and northern napa will se out. The Russian River has already had. 5 inches of rain. And that was a light stuff. This system will make its move south and thats when the Santa Cruz Mountains will pick up that heavy rainfall. This is extremely deep moisture. Theres not a lot of dynamics with it yet. But will come in across the pipeline. Very heavy rain on the north coast. It is beginning to pick up in Mendocino County and this is light and moving in later on. We will see 40s and 50s with the wind advisory for the higher coast above 1000 feet. Not a roaring southwind yet. There are a lot of systems that this moisture from the southwest comes in. That is going to enhance that for the Russian River, and santa rosa county. It is beginning to pick up and that is in our future. The key is that it will stall. If it kept moving we would be concerned. But when it stalls thats when you can get that heavy rain. Heres more on the story from claudine wong. Reporter today hes a successful surgeon but the road wasnt easy. He has to read and that led to many personal battles. Hes telling his story saying that if it helps one child that it is worth it. The operating room has always been a special place for this thoracic surgeon. My job primarily is to take out peoples cancer. The most type of cancer that i operate on is lung and esophageal cancer. I have developed a robotic thoracic program. Reporter i stood for hours watching dr. Tsai operate. Watching him save our lives. Its Something Else is happening in that room. It is here that dr. Tsai finds a stillness that is hard for him to find anywhere else. He has tourettes syndrome. A disorder of the nervous  system that causes repetitive movement. One out of 162 children have to read with half going undiagno for dr. Tsai it started at about age 6. It is motor tick syndrome. Essentia where you have more simple text. Head nodding, i looking, finger snapping. But at the same time i did have vocal tics, clear my throat and making a hut, hut sound. It bothered my parents. And we saw multiple physicians who said it was something that was a phase that i would grow out of. Reporter it never went away and for him and led to years of frustration and anger. I was bullied excessively. Reporter his theory and story is hard to tell. He said that it the bullying continued through high school. A lot of the low self esteem, it was not only happening at school, i would go home and my my mom and dad would constantly try to alter that behavior through traditional chinese techniques. It became a cycle where i started to feel a lot of anger towards people. Especially my parents. The low point was when i was about 13 years old when i tried to commit suicide. Reporter he said until interview he is told very few people that that low point. Which was also a turning point. I tried to poison myself. After the first couple swallows i can still remember looking at my hand and tossing them away and saying to myself i dont want to be the victim anymore. I do want to learn how to overcome this. Reporter while the bullying continued his resolve strength in. And he began studying martial arts which gave him confidence and a sense of worth. In med school he got a diagnosis. I was sitting in my psychiatry class. I remember professor describing neurological conditions. As eywere talking about tourettes syndrome i said oh my god, i really have that. Reporter he said that was a blessing. It didnt stop the roadblocks that he would face. A surgical mentor the didnt think he could operate. It inspired and motivated me to prove him wrong. That is why i chose one of the hardest career path in surgery. Reporter that ongoing battle for self acceptance. Admitting that i was wrong. That is not what i wanted to do. Reporter today he looks at his disorder through the eyes of the father. While there are no indications that his three children have to read. It is constantly the back of my mind. Primarily because of the fact that i worry about my kids but i dont want to get emotional about it, but when you think about your own kids i dont want them to go through the same struggles that i went through. Reporter he empowers them the way he empowered himself. Through love, acceptance, and martial arts. Is a brown belt and trains a five mornings a week. It is not a mark of weakness. In fact i would say my closest friends and my wife theyll see it as a mark of strength. It is something that i overcome every day. Reporter he works through the soreness in his neck and fingers caused by the constant motion and he doesnt mind answering questions about tourettes. There are patients that have asked me about it. Reporter in the hours he spends in the operating room, he finds that complex but that is why i love surgeries so much. It gives me that moment in time where im not in constant motion from the tourettes syndrome. I can focus on something, and i dont feel the tics happening. Reporter a stillness that he covets. And finding it here allows him to save lives and prove the wall tourettes is esnot define. Dr. Tsai credits his friends, his amazing wife and his children for the joy in his life today. He says its important for anyone who has this or another disorder that it does not limit them. Really inspiring. He was diagnosed as a child . Take many years for him to learn exact what was happening. Why the delay . Reporter they saw the symptoms as a child, but they didnt identified as tourettes. It can be hard to diagnose. He said this symptoms mimic other conditions. And keep in mind half of the children to diagnose to do grow out of it. Had he grown out of it he would never have gotten that official diagnosis. It does take a while and there is no cure. It is a lifelong challenge. As he said how this affects his medical work . He says it doesnt. He has intense coin the operating room. People that were with him every day dont do anything. His patients when they have questions he answers them. In a look at his record and know that he gets great results. Is a great doctor.
