The lawsuit names verizon and several contractors including mastec, advanced fiber works, and Kilburn Engineering which were laying fiber cable for verizon with the gas line ruptured. They used a pipeline which created a 30 foot inferno that burned down five buildings and bird for 2. 5 hours, so the concern here is what safety precautions were taken by these contractors . The suit seeks civil damages but do not mention a dollar amount. No one was injured in last weeks explosion and fire, and cal osha is investigating what happened. To the peninsula were firefighters are investigating a house fire that killed an 85 yearold woman today. Firefighters were called to a home on south humble street in san mateo at about 4 30 this morning. The crews got there quickly since the fire is located just down the street from the home. The deputy fire chief says flames were shooting from the front of that house. He describes what firefighters found when they made their way inside. They found a victim on the right side of the house. They were able to extricate the victim, and unfortunately the victim has passed. That victim was later identified as 85yearold suzanna tonga. Six people were able to escape the home, and a separate unit in the back of the house, but have been displaced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Following developing news tonight about californias high speed rail project. President trump is moving forward with plans to pull funding. The Administration Today sent a notice to the california high speed rail authority, and after the termination of a 929 million federal grant that had been intended for the project. The president also wants california to pay back 2. 5 billion that has already been spent on the project. All of this after Governor Newsom announced recently that he has no choice but to scale back the project and only complete the segment currently under construction between merced and bakersfield. Earlier today, the president lashed out at california over the states lawsuit opposing his Emergency Declaration to pay for a border wall.
