Russians created bogus internet postings, posed online as americans. They used Fraudulent Bank accounts and false identification documents. The departments posed as politically and socially active americans, advocating for and against particular candidates. They established social media pages and groups to communicate with unwitting americans. Reporter todays charges were brought by the office of special counsel robert mueller. And the indictment points out theres no allegation that the russian meddling altered the outcome of the president ial election. Theres new information about the suspected gunman in the Deadly Florida high School Shooting. The fbi is acknowledging it had received a specific report last month that nikolas cruz could be plotting an attack, and agents failed to investigate the tip. A person close to cruz called the tip line and was concerned that he could attack a school. The caller provided information about his guns and his erratic behavior and his social media posts. And Jeff Sessions is ordering a review of the justice departments processes. The families of the victims have been calling for stricter gun control laws. Maybe this will be the turning point. Maybe the students speaking out so boldly as they have on national tv, maybe the parents crying out and speaking so boldly as they have. Maybe this will be the turning point because in fact enough is enough. Nikolas cruz has been charged with 17 counts of murder and is being held without bond on suicide watch. Today the first fun radical took place. A Community College in Washington State was on lockdown following reports of shots fired on campus. Police eventually found no evidence of a gunman. And no injuries were reported. Police armed with heavy weaponry swarmed the college which is 20 minutes south of seattle. Students were told to shelter in place as police searched the campus. An hour later, the Fire Department tweeted it knew of no known victims. An active Shooter Training was held today. It had been planned for months. Leigh martinez is in west oakland live with more on what teachers and staff learned today. Lee reporter yes, well, several teachers had said that they do feel on edge after hearing of another mass shooting at a school. The oakland unified district has done these trainings for several years. And its very timely. Inside cole elementary school. Teachers, administrators, and discuss how to deal with a shooting situation. Theres a real push to train civilians or bystanders as we call them. Its rare in a lot of incidents that they are stopped by Law Enforcement if you look at the recent incident. He was able to evade the immediate incident. So its incumbent for civilians to know what to do in an active shooter. Reporter the training is timely. And the attack weighs leveely on their heavily on their minds. Right away you feel for it. This morning as i was driving in and hearing the news on the radio and just the families how heartbroken they are. And how much theyre pleading for support and help. I was driving in tears. Reporter the three hour Training Session raises awareness on everything from the characteristics of active shooters, how active shooters choose their targets, and what to do when a shooting happens. Reporter the first part of the acronym is move away from the danger. Dont investigate. Trust your instincts. Reporter oakland unified is the only district with its own police department. The chief believes the training is helpful. The reality is that school in florida had great training. That school in florida was in an affluent neighborhood. And they talked about the training, and policies and procedures, and nothing is going to stop somebody with an assault weapon. Youre not going to stop them. We didnt stop them in columbine, aurora, pulse nightclub, las vegas, youre not going to stop somebody with a high capacity weapon which is called an assault weapon which is going to come in and do damage. All the metal detectors are not going to stop them. Reporter the instructor said that schools need to look at their own policies to see what they can do to mitigate these attacks. Schools actually have the teachers lock their classrooms behind them once classes start. That way the school is pretty much already on lockdown. At this point hes heard of only two cases where active shooters have been able to breach a locked door. Sonoma county wants the United StatesSupreme Court to renew regarding the deadly shooting of andy lopez by a sheriffs deputy. It was october 2013 when lopez was carrying a pellet gun that resembled a real weapon near a vacant lot outside of santa rosa limits. The deputy thought the gun was real. And it led to a number of protests. Lopez says the deputy did not warn lopez that he would shoot. In santa rosa, police are collecting evidence and trying to piece together what happened leading up to an overnight chase and crash. Christien kafton tells us the victims were the ones in pursuit of the suspect. Reporter public works crews are clearing the remains of this fiery scene where this crash ended at west steele and north coast in santa rosa. And were hearing from family members that this all started with an auto theft and it turned into a High Speed Pursuit through the streets of santa rosa leaving a man injured and a car in flames. The victims are saying it started when a thief stole a white Dodge Charger from this santa rosa new years day. The victims heard a noise and saw someone trying to steal their car. That white charger took off and two men from the home hopped into another vehicle and began tailing the charger. That chase took them through the streets of santa rosa at a high rate of speed. At times, the speeds reached 100 miles per hour. The cars owner lost sight of the charger and then heard the crash. By the time they arrived at the crash, they found the Dodge Charger had smashed into six other vehicles, causing a car to burst into flames. A witness described the fiery aftermath. Ive never heard that before. A car was a huge fire ball. Reporter the driver and presumed car thief was either thrown from the car or managed to crawl out and was unresponsive at the scene. He was transported to an area hospital. Wayne bernard says someone tried to steal his car earlier this year. On the first of january, somebody tried to break into my hummer. Reporter in bernards case, the thief picked the wrong target. He is a chp officer and helped the Police Arrest him. When it comes to pursuing suspects on your own, dont do it. Leave it to the pros. Ive seen fatalities out of vehicle pursuits before and its not worth it. Best to just let them take the car. The car can be replaced. Reporter Santa Rosa Police have not offered an update on the drivers condition and they have not been able to interview him or get his name before they took him to the hospital. Because of the traffic, the boy was taken to the hospital by helicopter. Hes not considered to be in critical condition. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. In byron, an investigation into an assault that sent a woman to the hospital. Police responded to a call on Kellogg Creek road shortly before 9 00 last night. A 38yearold woman was suffering from serious head injuries. They transported her to a neighbor safeway parking lot where a medical helicopter was able to land administered to airlift her to a trauma center. Yesterday a group of immigrants rights advocates chanting stop the deportations blocked a Homeland Security van from entering the detention center. During the operation, more than 120 businesses were issued audit notices. The fate of thousands of undocumented immigrants is unknown after the senate rejected four separate proposals to extend the daca program. One of the proposals were defeated by 21 votes. It would have created a path to citizenship for dreamers, funded the border wall. And tightened restrictions on legal immigration. A separate bipartisan measure fell six votes short of passing. That would have extended daca and funded the wall. And would have also kept the Visa Lottery Program intact. I think this is a decision that the senate is going to regret, and i hope we will be able to remedy the injustice soon. I just think we missed an opportunity for the american people. And we missed an opportunity for the daca immigrants. President trump has ordered the daca program to end march 5th unless congress can pass a fix.
