Chp says he is in serious condition and they may release his identity when he is stabilized. The second officer has been released from the hospital. Starting new years day, bars, restaurants and companies that produce alcohol can help people who have had too much to drink at home without getting behind the wheel. They can offer vouchers for free or discounted rides through a ridesharing companies. The current law does not allow any business with an alcohol license to offer customers anything other than whats considered of inconsequential value. Deputies arrested the suspect and he was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive. Fire officials in santa rosa say a fire last night was caused by discarded smoking materials. Crews responded to reports of a fire at an apartment on russell avenue near highway 101. They were able to put out the fire. It did cause 25,000 in damage. The woman who lives in the apartment was not home at the time but arrived as fire crews were finishing up. They say the fire started in the bathroom. No injuries were reported.
