It will be chilly. It will be in the 50s by about 11 00. Then into the upper 60s for the second part of the day. That is a goodlooking afternoon. It will take a while to get there. The afternoon highs expected around the bay are 60s for redwood city. In the north bay, 68 for santa rosa. Not a lot of change going on. When i come back, i will have a look at your extended forecast. There are new developments in the oakland workers strike. They could return to the bargaining table tomorrow. A mediator may help settle this dispute. Reporter it sounds like that is what is going to happen. The union and the city have both agreed to end the strike going into mediation. They dont know who the mediator will be. We know a third party will be involved to facilitate negotiations. Until there is headway with that, the future remains unclear. The unions and the city both say that the strike will continue until further notice. About 3000 workers have been on strike since tuesday. Nonemergency services have been cut off. The library and public works are shut down. The city offered a 4 raise for the first year and the possibility of another raise after depending on revenue. Workers say the strike is not about wages alone. They want more fulltime workers and rely less on mandatory overtime and part time workers. Members of one of the unions say they are their working conditions are bad. They are working over 80 hours. That is mandatory overtime. The working conditions in these areas are not good. There leading to injuries and mistakes. Reporter dispatchers have agreed to stay on the job during the strike. The latest Development Last night is that the city and the union have agreed to mediation. There is hope that the strike will end, but that is likely not to happen anytime soon. People should plan for another day of workers on strike tomorrow. Thank you for the update. A woman found dead on a walking trail has been identified as a Software Engineer who had worked at google. Authorities are investigating what led up to her day deaf. Death. Reporter a body has been identified. Her body was discovered by a bicyclist thursday morning. She was face down in the drainage canal. It was a five minute walk from the google campus where she worked as an engineer. The company said this, she was an excellent Software Engineer in our developer product team. We are devastated to learn of her passing. Our deepest condolences are with her family and friends. Police on friday were wondering what led up to her death in this recreational area. We are trying to figure out what occurred. That is what we will try to determine through the investigation. Reporter no foul play has been confirmed. Investigators say she was naked. It is not clear if she was dumped there or if the body floated from a different location. Her Facebook Page shows an active young woman with a love of life. We reached out to some contacts. Many were too distraught to give comment. Mystery lies in the water. They will pass them out this morning to kids. Firefighters distributed bicycles to 550 people last month. That was in santa rosa. 700 bikes will be given away today in sonoma. There are also bicycles for adults. Bike helmets and Water Bottles are included in this giveaway. A man is being called a hero to put out some brushfires. Check out this video. He is using his jacket to try to put out some fierce flames. He said he was driving through on highway 99 when he saw four fires. He decided to take matters into his own hams hands. Other vehicles were trying to help to get those flames under control. When the fire crews showed up, they continued to fight. He was treated for smoke inhalation. No word on how those fire started. The victim was taken to the hospital. No one is in custody. It is not clear whether the victim was a student. A 5000 reward is being offered. Chp is now looking into excessive speed as a reason why a party bus flipped over in San Francisco on the 101. 29 people were on board the bus. All were injured. Two people remain hospitalized. Both of them are in fair condition. Officials are not releasing any information about the condition of other patients. The crash happened friday night 1101 at the at the 101. The liberty fire is now contained. The thomas fire and the most north fire is just 15 contained. 800 homes have been destroyed. 90,000 people have been forced to evacuate.
