Obviously you are going to have emergency crews out there. The chp will be there dealing with the person inside of the car and obviously retrieve the car from the creek. We will keep tabs on that and let you know if we see backups as a result of this accident. Northbound 101 at sierra point parkway. Now lets take you over to the east bay. We will show you a live picture here of the drive on highway 24. That looks pretty good as we move into the 7 00 hour. This is the traffic on the righthand side heading westbound on 24 out of the walnut creek area and through lafayette. A little slowing but nothing too bad for this time of the morning. Six major wildfires are burning in Southern California. Six of them. The lilac fire and the liberty fire near temecula in riverside county. The biggest fire is the thomas fire in Ventura County. It has burned 132,000 acres since it started monday evening. As of this morning, it is just 10 contained. It has destroyed more than 400 homes and 50,000 people have been ordered to evacuate. 15,000 homes are still in danger. Crews are trying to keep the fire from spreading into Santa Barbara. There is the rye fire near Magic Mountain amusement park. It is 15 contained. It may not be fully contained until next thursday. The creek fire in the northern San Fernando Valley has burned acres and is 15 contained. And fire crews have made progress battling that skirball fire, the one near ucla. Now 20 contained. Classes at ucla will resume today and the getty center which is nearby that was closed down because of the fire will reopen today. Back now to the new lilac fire burning in northern San Diego County. It destroyed 20 homes and a mobile home in a retirement community. It started in the city of fallbrook. Two people have been hospitalized with burns. The fire has burned 4,000 acres and is 0 contained. Schools in northern San Diego County has canceled class because of the lilac fire. We know 25 race horses died yesterday when flames from the lilac fire swept through a Training Center in bonsall. The flames engulfed the Training Center. Many of the horse thats survived are being boarded at the del mar racetrack. Now the liberty fire threatening the cities of temecula and murrieta. All schools are closed in the area. It has burned 300 acres and is 5 contained. Because of the fires, the air quality around us is not good. Today is one of the first spare the air day of the winter season. It starts today and will continue through sunday. That means you that cant burn wood fires indoors or outdoors through midnight sunday. Air quality is expected to be not good because of pollution trapped close to the ground. San Francisco Police body camera video has been released of last weeks deadly officer involved shooting in bay view. The suspect was unarmed when the officer opened fire. Christien kafton is in San Francisco at police headquarters. Tell us what this video shows, christien. Reporter yeah. Gasia and dave, the video was released last night that shows the critical moments leading up to the officerinvolved shooting last week. At this point, San Francisco police not releasing the name of the officer who fired the deadly round. It killed oneil last friday after he got out of a lottery van that he was suspected of carjacking. Video shows officers chasing that van until it stopped in the bay view district. Video from the body camera shows the officer firing at oneil from inside of the patrol car, shattering the window. Oneil was running towards the car at the time and he was unarmed when the officer fired the round. Oneil later died at the hospital. The chronicle reporting that the officer was a rookie and had been on the force for less than a week and with a Field Training officer at the time of the shooting. We have reached out to the San Francisco police department, hoping to talk with them later on this morning getting more details on the shooting and ask if the video shows the officer following departmental procedures. A lot of questions when it comes to the video and the incident. Thank you, christien. The time is now 7 06. A man who escaped last night from a san leandro Psychiatric Hospital has been arrested. This is after a carjacking, a car crash and a chase across the freeway. He escaped from the john george Psychiatric Hospital. A teenager was in the passenger seat of the car. He hit the teen and took off in the car and quickly crashed into a garbage truck and jumped out and tried to steal another car. He bit the elderly man behind the wheel but then took off running. He was spotted by deputies running across 680 and made it across and hid in bushes we are was eventually arrested. He is facing several charges including assault and resisting arrest. A mystery this morning. A womans body was found floating in the water in sunnyvale. Coming up, what police are saying about the investigation along a popular trail. I have to start off with conditions this morning as the wind is picking up, boy, you can really see just the devastation right behind me. That is the fact that with these embers continuing to really fly around this area as the santa ana winds push this fueled fire, the embers causing a big concern. So unfortunate weeks before christmas. We are looking live at this scene. A beautiful home in bonsall, about 40 minutes away from san diego is reduced to rubble. Unfortunate. I want to set the scene for you. This lilac fire starting yesterday, around 11 15 just off of the 76 here in San Diego County. Again, were live in bonsall. That is about 40 minutes north of san diego. When it first started in the fallbrook area, it was two to three acres and exploded in size in a matter of hours. Rye now the fire stands at 4100 acres and 0 containment. Four people have been hurt, including firefighters. At this time, the fire is now heading west towards the cities of oceanside and vista and even camp pendleton. There is a possibility that the flames could spread all the way to the ocean. We know that the blaze took over horse stables. Elite thoroughbreds were unfortunately burned or killed. Guys, as we come back out live here in San Diego County, the farthest part away from san diego, boy, you can really see the destruction that this fire, the lilac fire has caused. Here at home, an investigation is continuing in sunnyvale where the body of a woman was found in the water nearby lands park. It was found yesterday morning by a bicyclist along the bay trail near the golf course. Investigators say the body is that of a woman but dont know anything else about her or how she died. There were no signs of trauma on the body. Police are not aware of any missing persons reports that could be connected to the discovery of the body. If you have information, call investigators with the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. A 7,500 reward is being offered to track down the person who shot and wounded a 4 00 girl in oakland wednesday night. It happened in the millsmont neighborhood around 9 00 p. M. The family had just come home from christmas shopping. The little girl was asleep in the car with her mother when a dark colored car drove past them and shots were fired at them. The little girl was hit in the arm according to her uncle. She is recovering at Childrens Hospital in oakland and is expected to be okay. People living in that area are obviously up set and are nervous. That is horrible. There are quite a few neighbors right here at this intersection that have children. So its a concern. Now, Oakland Police so far havent said anything about a possible motive or who may have been the target. Well, a small town in new mexico held a vigil last night for the two students who died in a High School Shooting yesterday. It happened in the northern new mexico town of aztec. The shooter, whose name hasnt been released yet, also died. There is no word on a motive and police have not released details about the gunman. Several acts of bravery saved many students and teachers. We have information about a phone scammer posing as a utility worker in alameda. The fake utility worker is calling people and asking for payment. The utility only makes courtesy calls to let people know about delinquent bills and would never ask about credit or debit card information over the phone. Anyone who has been targeted by the scam should call their Credit Card Company and the Alameda Police department. You may remember a similar scam was happening back in march. The time is 7 14. Last night the plan to cut 9 million from the Oakland Unified School district budget was laid out at a special school Board Meeting. Students, parents and teachers packed the room protesting. The School Superintendent says the district has already put a ceiling on hiring overtime and spending and says layoffs and program cuts are expected. The cuts are needed according to School Officials to avoid a takeover by the state after years of changing leadership and financial problems. Nobody wants to cut programs for kids. Nobody wants to cut programs that help kids. But we are in a situation where we have a budget reality that we have to deal with. There is already no art at the school. We just lost a pe teacher. We are about to lose another pe teacher. And there is no Extracurricular Activities at the school. Next wednesday, the school board will vote on the budget and what needs to be cut. The time is 7 22. Education and Health Care Services had the largest net job gain during the month last month. This is the november report. And right now the dow, the nasdaq, and the s p five hundred are all up right now. A little bit the most gains on the nasdaq. Up more than half of a percent there. U. S. Companies added 228,000 jobs last month. That number, again, higher than economists expected. The new numbers were released by the Labor Department this morning. They show the Unemployment Rate remains steady at 4. 1 . That was expected. The low Unemployment Rate has not pushed up wages much. They rose 2. 5 in november, compared to a year earlier. The last time the Unemployment Rate was that low, wages were rising at a 4 rate. Well, when it comes to the race to send the first people to mars, tesla and spacexs ceo elon musk is challenging the head of boeing to beat him to it.
