Reporter the update we just got from the San Francisco Public Utilities commission is that as a result of this water break there were 3 buildings and one Apartment Building that do not have water service. Water was gushing from the street for about three hours this morning as a result of this break. Crews are busy digging up and trying to repair the broken 12 inch water main that is really causing issues for people who live and work in this area. Reporter this is video that was posted to instagram this morning that shows the scene just before dawn. This water main break buckled payment and sent water rushing down the street. Water flowed into a nearby parking garage and also went into the basement of a neighboring Office Building at the corner of second and harrison. I tried to walk across the street but i had to go through with to go to work my feet got soaking wet and inside my garage it was soaking wet. Water was everywhere. Everyone started calling the police. No one was here until after 8 00 this morning. Reporter the Public Utilities Commission Says that chris were able to shut off the water at 9 00 this morning and began the repair work. We did point out that there was some minor damage to the basement of one nearby building. In order to fix this broken line, crews are having to dig large holes in the middle of this intersection.
