We have been looking at highway 4, its low over the hill from concord to pittsburg and through bay point. 680 looks good from the benicia bridge to walnut creek and 880 is slow. Traffic is flowing on northbound 101 in san jose. 280 and 85 look pretty good into the west valley. A scary story out of san leandro. Investigators say someone was pulled over by a teenager impersonating a police officer. Christien kafton is in san leandro with more information and some advice. Reporter we will get to those tips about what you should do if you suspect youre being pulled over by a fake officer in a moment. The victim in this case said they were driving in san leandro and someone tried to pull them over. They suspected something was off. Thats when they call the real police and they made a pair of real arrest. This happened shortly after midnight. The victim tells police he was driving your bancroft and 136 avenue when he was pulled over in an official looking car. A silver Ford Crown Victoria with a similar make and model to many police vehicles. The victim said he heard a siren and he stopped. The driver got out of the crown vic and approached his car. The suspect got out of the car, pulled a hood up over his head and approached the car. That set off alarm bells for the victim. He took off and the suspect also took off. Thats when the victim turned the tables on the suspect, following them to get a license plate and provide a description to the real police. The Alameda County deputies spotted the vehicle come up pulled over for an unrelated traffic violation. The deputy realized it was the fake police car. They say if you suspect are being pulled over by a fake officer there are steps you can take. Make sure that its not a police officer. If you suspect its not, i would immediately recommend that you dial 911 if you think someone is trying to pull you over who may be impersonating a police officer. Be careful. If it is an officer and you drive off, that is against the law as well. Reporter that Deputy Arrested the teenage driver of that crown victoria, allegedly for impersonating a police officer. A second adult was also arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. There were two other teenagers in the car at the time. Police say they believe those teenagers were released to their parents. Police say if you suspect you are being pulled over by a fake officer, call 911 and try to verify there is a pullover and process in your area. They say you want to be sure you do pullover if it is a real officer because you would not want to try to evade arrest. There is a fine line. They also say this is a rare instance. Very seldom in san leandro have they had someone try to impersonate an officer. The lieutenant we spoke with said over his career, its only happened maybe five or six times. Very rare but scary nonetheless. Thank you. Security will be tight on the Milpitas High School campus after a student brought a gun to school yesterday. When the first report came in, students and staff sheltered in place. Two other schools were also put on lockdown. Police found the student who had the gun. It was turned over to the police. Investigators have not said why the student had the gun but say no one was hurt. Parents and students say hearing about this was frightening. You send them to school thinking they are safe and the next thing you know, your kid is texting you that they are under lockdown. I was really scared because he couldve shot anyone if he was mad. Similar incidents happened that two other schools this week. Those schools are Village High School in pleasanton and san ramons twin creeks elementary. No one was hurt in either incident. The father of the Elementary School student is now facing charges of child endangerment extract new information about a Piedmont High School teacher discipline for inappropriate behavior with female students. Mark cowherd reportedly had been placed on leave for a second time according to the east bay times. This was after a School Board Meeting where parents demanded that officials take more action. Last month cowherd spent three weeks on administrative leave before he was lot back into the classroom. The superintendent said no decision has been made on how long cowherds second leave will last. The u. S. Navy rescued two women and their dogs who were stranded for months in the Pacific Ocean. The women were trying to sail from hawaii to tahiti. In late may they lost their engine and bad weather. They thought they could sail to tahiti. Two months later they started sending daily distress calls but nobody answered. Luckily they prepared for a long trip. They had water purifiers on board and more than a years worth of food. Finally, a taiwanese fishing boat spotted them 900 miles south of japan. The east bay times reports pg e executives have been pushing state regulators for permission to charge ratepayers when its power lines cause the wildfires. Oakland police and the fbi say they know who fired a stray bullet two years ago that killed a berkeley musician. That person will never be prosecuted for the crime. 26yearold Emiliano Nevarez had just finished a performance with his band near 14th street in oakland when he was hit by a stray bullet. Investigators say they identify the gunman as of 24yearold, dejour jamerson. They say he died last year. We dont have someone we can prosecute. That person is deceased now because he was running from cops on another case unrelated to this. However, it is something that we hope will bring comfort to the family.
