Government released thousands of previously classified documents related to the 1963 assassination of president john f. Kennedy. The papers were posted online in compliance with a 1992 law requiring their release after 25 years. Fox reporter Lauren Blanchard has this late report from washington. While the National Archive documents releases thursday night likely wont give exact answers on what happened november 22nd, 1963, they do contain a trove of memos and government reports about the jfk murder investigation, many written for other government officials. While theres yet to be a bombshell revelation, there are small nuggets that will prove interesting to answer seekers. One memo shows the fbi received a threat on shooter Lee Harvey Oswalds life the night before he was killed while in police custody. The documents could also support or disprove the theory that oswald was working for the government. Plus, did kennedys vp and successor Linden B Johnson have a part in the assassination . One deposition from 1975 alleges johnson told others the murder was retaliation for kennedys role in the death of the vietnam president. More information is expected in the coming days as the documents are combed over and analyzed. There are thousands more files that have been with held per recommendations from the fbi and cia. In some cases its the names of informants, most of whom ill bet are long dead. Maybe some of their family members are still living but its a stretch to say thered be implications. President trump has ordered rereviews of those portions and is expected to release most of the remaining documents in the spring of next year. Theres also plenty of nonjfk information in the release like one report indicating the cia attempted to hire mobsters to kill cuban leader fidel castro. Lauren blanchard, fox news.
