Reporter according to oakland police, 80yearold clark was beaten to death in his home and suffered blunt force trau that ma to the trauma to the head. His middleaged daughter was also injured. She was in bad shape when she was taken to the hospital. Bloody. I didnt get close enough. I didnt crowd in to see what was going on. We asked if we could ride along, or my partner asked if she could ride along but they said it wasnt needed. Passengers say they heard a boom. The plane landed safely in goose bay, canada. The cause of the engine explosion is under investigation. The airline says its working on getting passengers rerouted to los angeles. In oakland, one person has died after a crash in the hills. The accident happened around 7 15 this morning. In the area of redwood road and skyline boulevard. Officials have not released the name of the victim and its unclear if anyone else was hurt at this time. And in the south bay, San Jose Police<\/a> are investigating a deadly shooting there. Officials say a man was shot at least once on South Jackson<\/a> avenue around 6 25 yesterday evening. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. Police did not provide any further information about the shooting. A critical deadline is looming for recipients of daca, the deferred action for childhood arrivals program. Weve been telling you next thursday october 5th is the last day that Daca Recipients<\/a> known as dreamers can renew their permits if it is expiring. Daca covers 800,000 people who came into the u. S. Illegally when they were children, but theyre protected from deportation by this program established under president obama. However, the Trump Administration<\/a> announced earlier this month it would phase out the program in six months. Today east bay congressman eric swallow joined us to discuss congressional efforts to salvage the program. What movement we have initiated is we have put forward a petition to go to the speaker of the house. We need 218 people to sign the petition. You can force a vote on the floor. We did this last year to save the export inport import bank and since theres a lack of will for the dream act well have to find republicans to sign with us. Top democrats including nancy pelosi have talked with President Trump<\/a> about a deal that would save the dream act while beefing up border security. Next thursdays deadline only applies to Daca Recipients<\/a> whose permits are expiring.
