Warm yesterday looking outside at the Golden Gate Bridge. Youve got a faint view of a little bit of fog streaming through there this morning. We have seen some fog in some portions of the san mateo and Santa Cruz County coastlines. Other than that, though, most of us are seeing some pretty clear skies. Winds have definitely made a shift now more so out of the west and thats helping to push some of that cool air towards our inland areas. Temperatures as of right now are mostly in the 50s. Good morning to get outside. Enjoy a cool start before we do feel temperatures warming up here in a few hours. Daytime highs today will mostly max out in the low 80s and a lot of us only in the 70s this afternoon. To breaking news now, former Oakland Police chief Leronne Armstrong is running to be on the oakland city council. His spokesperson confirmed to kron 4 that armstrong plans to file the paperwork at Oakland City Hall this morning at about 10 oclock, according to the San Francisco chronicle, he says he plans to run primarily on Public Safety while also highlighting oaklands budget crisis and rising homeless encampent population. Armstrong started as police chief back in 2021 until he was fired in february of last year due to an investigation that accused him of mishandling to Police Misconduct cases. An arbitrator, though, later cleared him of any wrongdoing. And now hes suing the city for wrongful termination. 8 candidates already entered the race for the atlarge city council seat. Time now 702. And today, david de pap is going to be back in court in San Francisco have to face. Criminal charges filed by the District Attorney brooke jenkins. We have kron fours will tran out of the hall of justice this morning in San Francisco. Will. James jury selection will begin in 2 hours. So now now its the states turn to try david de pap after he was convicted by federal prosecutors last fall. And actually he was sentenced just last week. But now state prosecutors are going after him for what he allegedly did in San Francisco. I mentioned allegedly because he has yet to be found guilty in the state courts. Its aware nuance, guilty in federal court not guilty yet in state court. Let me show you the video of what it went down back on october 2022. When according to state prosecutors, david de pap went to the pelosi home in San Francisco, looking for then speaker of the house, nancy pelosi. But she was not home at the time. Instead, it was paul pelosi. Police officers arrived at the home, saw david de pap at the door. And thats when they say he hit paul pelosi on his head with a hammer. Paul pelosi was knocked unconscious, woke up in a pool of his own blood. Now that charges in state court different charges in federal court in state court. James, it is attempted murder, burglary as well as assault. Now in federal court because nancy pelosi is a federal official. It was attempted kidnapping of a federal official as well as an assault on the immediate member of a federal official. And thats why federal prosecutors, were able to go after him in state court. They have their own charges and this trial officially with has not begun because today is jury selection. But once everything is in place, according to prosecutors, should take a couple of weeks for the trial to begin and end. As far as david de pap. But in federal court, he was sentenced to 50 years maximum sentence for what he did in federal court. Thank you. Well, 704, is the time and scary moments for some Elementary School students and teachers in san bruno. There was a Sheriffs OfficeTraining Exercise and it didnt go quite as planned, right . Yeah. Michael thomas live at for tolling Elementary School this morning on the day after. Good morning, everybody. Ok . Hey, good morning, everyone. Nick came from the San FranciscoSheriffs OfficeTraining Space on its jail property, which again, is not too far away right next door, essentially the Sheriffs Office was hosting a routine Tactical Training class which involved the Fire Department along with the Sheriffs Office and a few others. And it was being held actually inside a part of the jail that was isolated. But Officials Say somehow that gas exited the building got outside and made its way over to the school, which they say this is the first time its ever happened and theyve been doing these routine trainings for more than 20 years or so specifically with these gases. They did put out a statement. Its up on your screen now saying, quote, these trainings are critical to Law Enforcement because they allow peace officers to test the safety of equipment for potential leaks and they provide staff handson experience with chemical agents, preparing them both physically and mentally for real life situations. We sincerely apologize to port whole alum entry school, its faculty and students and their families for this unforeseen event, which must have been extremely scary for children. Now, as of right now, the department is pausing all of these trainings involving those chemicals until they figure out just exactly what happened and how it happened and are in james back out here live. He did ask how everybody is doing from my understanding everybody is okay. But were hoping to hear more today. We did reach out to the school this morning and were here live hoping to chat with parents, but as one can assume, i would assume maybe the kids are out on recess and then that wind kind of came by and brought that tear gas and pepper spray into their eyes. But as we get more details things are confirmed, well keep you updated. Thats a very latest here in saint bernard, Michael Thomas story they start showing up for school.
