Its currently facing. So the nonpartisan legislative Analysts Office says the state is facing a projected deficit of about 73 billion dollars. However, governor gavin newsom has said before he believes that amount is actually much lower in todays presentation, hes likely to announce where he thinks the deficit stands as of today and the plans he has to close that gap, which could include cuts in different areas, according to the associated press. This is the second year in a row that california has had a deficit this size and the state has avoided making some painful cuts to major ongoing programs and services. But it has made cuts on onetime spending and delayed. Other spending will also borrowing from other accounts. We spoke with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about the deficit and what they expect to hear from the governor today. We know the revenues generally coming in lower than the forecast and thats concerning. And so we are prepared for some very difficult choices the bottom line is theyre going to make cuts.
