Santa Barbara in the 60s and it is very interesting to see if there this go warmer than las vegas at 77 degrees right now. So it feels like summer, a little taste of summer and we look at relief from this heat on the coast tomorrow. But here are the current number. So downtown
San Francisco, a little cooler in the upper 70s, but were already seeing 80s in pacifica, berkeley, oakland, and even point raze is reporting 80 degrees. So that is quite warm. So place to be the heat today is
Half Moon Bay. Now youll notice some. It is a nice blue skies, but its actually reporting in the 60s right now in
Half Moon Bay. Thats because we have the southerly flow here. So they have a breeze he e at 12 miles per hour. So that is cooling things down over by the beach there. But we still have that offshore wind component that is keeping things warm for so. You may notice it is breezy but also a warm wind coming from the land. So here are the temperatures for tomorrow. So well jump ahead to tomorrow. And you can expect another hot day for our inland communities like concord livermore and antioch, and even santa rosa. All of us should be reaching 90s tomorrow. And then
San Francisco still be warm in the 70s. It looks like so just get ready for another warm day in land. Youll see some relief over by the coast and this weekend will be a starting off in the 80s as well. But tomorrow looks like one of the hottest days of the week for inland communities over by the bay in the 80s as well and the coast. 74 degrees today. So, you know, thats a warm day. If it is 70s over by the coast and then it looks like we back down to the 60s and a few days. Back to you. Gayle, thank you. There was some danger sparking to the east bay today. We reached out to some of those parents, but they could not speak to us in time for this report. Im sara stinson reporting in the newsroom. Back to you. Coming up here, a brand new campus trying to get kids from underfunded bay area communities. The chance to have some fun this summer. But they need your help. Were going to talk with the cofounders live right after cofounders live right after thi did you know some dish soaps dont remove all the grease, even with scrubbing . Whaaat . I just cleaned those try dawn platinum. It removes 99 of grease and food residue. Thats why dawn is trusted to save wildlife affected by oil. Dawn platinum cleans to the squeak. For many kids, summer is all about fun in the sun with their friends and going to summer camp is a huge part of that yet for so many others that opportunity is just out of reach. But camp made for me is looking to change that and wants to give the most underfunded bay area communities, the magic of camp. In order to do that, it needs a little bit of help. So joining us now is
Scott Edelman and paul austin. The codirectors of camp made from a thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for having such a loop what is the magic of camp and who are these kids that are getting too . Experience this magic. So on the product of summer camp, ive lived it. I loved it. Its kind of made me who i am. And ive seen so many kids transformed because of the opportunity to go to him. But yet theres so many kids who dont get that opportunity, which is exactly why we call it can made for me because theres so many kids out there that are made for other types of kids who have the resources and can for it. But yet this camp in particular is made for kids, marine city and east oakland. Were so excited started off this summer. And so what makes it so special . O, well, it makes it special is like being able to take. He is outdoors for a full week and were going to do several for opportunities there. May kids are going to go out there to go to sleep. Theyre going to meet new people right . We do have like cant buyers and just be able to bring kids together for a city in oakland. To me, hes won a special opportunity that dont happen very often. Yeah. I mean, pauls whole platform and iran is giving kids experiences and opportunities that they otherwise would have had. And going overnight camp is exactly that. And, you know, ive been able to start 3 of these for underfunded communities across the country. And ive watched the transformation happened and i guarantee you, you know, happened again this summer camp. So this is the first year that cant made for me is going to be happening in the bay area. Tell us a little bit about the campgrounds where youre going to be hosting all these kids. Soto said at a ymca camp called camp are the best of its a beautiful sight. Offers everything from a pool to a climbing wall to all the field. Sports on a creek archery. The beautiful campfire spot that, you know, will host our talent show and all the other surprise activities and events that are going to have its right in the redwoods, which is just im new to california. Only 2 years here. And its just, you know, on the east coast main can guys so for need to walk around these camps. Agency redwoods everywhere was just staggeringly and i think for kids, especially coming from east oakland, emergency, well just be kind of a very different feel than what theyre used to, which is what this whole thing is about. Its important to get kids out of their comfort zone. So the campus coming up, june 29th through july 6th. Its a sleepaway camp 5 nights away. It sleepaway camp sounds amazing. Its for 6 to 9th graders. But in order to pull this off, you need volunteers. Youre looking for counselors. It sounds like you also need some equipment for the kids. Tell us what would be your ideal
Camp Counselor . Who would you like to see come volunteer and help out . Right. Come just the lets go. You have the energy the high energy. You have the dedication. But people have really good high energy. Some item may have a special skill set that they want to share with the use. I think its also to like whats so interesting about the staff that we bring together is we have people who have their own kids, their executives. They have incredibly busy jobs, but theyre able to put all that aside. To come to camp for one week so that they can give this
Magical Experience for these kids. But also we need that younger foundations. So we need that the college kids are on for some looking for an opportunity to make an impact, put something on their resume. I will happily get references for future jobs. If you come so were really looking for anyone loves working with kids loves being outside and loves just doing something thats literally going to change lives, which were guaranteeing this well. Im flattered that you think that i would be a good
Camp Counselor. I do make a million good smore. And id like that. The the flag pole at the end of the night. Yeah. You want some more information, where should they got was on your instagram . Its a filled with good stuff. Yeah, it is. Camp made from a dot and we are actively looking to find counselors as well as raise funds were trying to get kids fully with so we can take stuff off the packing lists such as bedding, sleeping bags, things that family shouldnt have to worry about because its enough to send their kid away for a week. So donations can be made there and you can reach out if camp and being a staff member changes last. And finally, here is were running out of time. When this is all said and done and it is july 7th in camp is over, which is going to be here before we know what. What do you want the kids to take away . What do yo was and that they can also oneday probably be in the same spot that me scotty is be able to provide it push, move it forward other kids. Yeah. Just paid agent of change and their communities and beyond in bringing that magic of camp back to their homes and their communities in their lives. Scott edelman and paul austin, the codirectors of camp made for me. Thank you for joining us. What youre putting out there in the community is wonderful. I hope the kids have an amazing experience and the right volunteer step up to the plate. Well see. It cant just and thanks for see you there. All right. And so now because of you, those surgeries are going to happen next week. All right. Well talk about our forecast now on this very hot day. Were taking a look outside here at the embarcadero. We have gayle ong here who you did that story actually about the cat. I it in the surgery. Our viewers stepped up to the plate. Yeah. And and the magic has happened. Yes, im very happy to report that update. So thank you. Tv viewers and animal lovers. Well, lets talk about the weather. We are hot out there hot indeed. Were already seeing 80s. In livermore san jose now in view hayward and santa so we are hot today and it is as you probably no, were probably going to be hot tomorrow as well for inland communities that we could see 90s, a little cooler over in
Half Moon Bay. Now a
San Francisco, the downtown area is reporting 78 degrees. I did check a weather station over by dolores park. Its showing 81 degrees right now. So that is a summer day in the city. So we have
High Pressure here were also in between this area of low pressure. So that is creating is pressure gradient, which bringing us some gusty winds. We are coming out of that wind advisory this morning. So we had a bit of some offshore flow going on and that wind speed is going to change later tonight. Were already seeing a southerly flow thats going to be cooling places like the coast down starting tomorrow. Happened days already seeing a cool down right now. But we are sunny, as you can see on our satellite and radar here. So here are the wind speeds. You see winds coming out of south in
Half Moon Bay. Thats why it happened. Days in the 60s and everywhere else the 70s and 80s. We have the offshore flow. So that wind is coming from the land. Heating up. So the warm temperatures will be staying for a while because this is a long range future cast model. You can see this ridge of
High Pressure is going to be taking over the bay area. And theres another ridge right behind it. And thats going to be warming us up. So next week we will retreat from the heat to more seasonable averages from the coast, at least by the coast, at least. But these are tomorrows daytime highs were expecting 90s in the usual areas, concord livermore and even santa rosa could see 90 step. Heres that 7 day outlook. Lot of sunshine in the forecast and mothers day sunday looks a little cooler in the low 80s inland 70s by the bay and upper 50s 60s by the coast. Gayle, thank you. The socalled bad grandpa.
