Are following developing news first here at noon road closures now in place on the capitol expressway in san jose after a car crash. Police are calling this a major injury crash. The capitol expressway from 7 trees boulevard through tours road is blocked off in both directions right now, center road is blocked off from the south side of singleton road in both both directions. Theres an active investigation going on right now. And people are being asked to avoid this area and use different ways to get around. We do have a reporter on the way to the scene of this crash and well get you more details as soon as possible right here at noon. Alameda county Sheriffs Office dispatcher is being remembered as a loving mother and co worker. This afternoon. She was killed on sunday night by suspected drunk driver while she was on her way to work. Kron fours will tran has the story. Heartbreak and just devastation at the Alameda CountySheriffs Office. They were expecting their coworker to arrive on sunday night, but she never made it to the office. She was less than one half mile from this location when she was broadsided. Let me show you her picture. Her name is antoinette few now now at 11, 15 on sunday night, she was heading to work and all of a sudden a car comes out of nowhere and brought sites or she never made it to her work as an emergency dispatcher. Instead, it was a dispatcher that told Emergency Responders to head to her location. Now, let me show you a map of where it all went down. It was in san leandro at east 14th and 100 50th. That particular location. A car comes out of nowhere, slams into her so hard that it was on its side when the Emergency Responders arrived, she was unconscious, rushed to the hospital but ultimately died from her injuries. When word spread throughout the community, the San Leandro Police department, they were the ones who responded to this. But when word spread to Law Enforcement agencies, they gave her a per session. The chp, the sand, the Andrews Police department as well as of course, the Alameda CountySheriffs Office. They took her body from the hospital to the Coroners Office and her family said she was born a star. And you took her to his place like she was a star and we are grateful. Take a look at your screen. This is the statement sent out from the Alameda CountySheriffs Office. They say we lost a dedicated, energetic, loving Alameda CountySheriffs Office. Family member. She took pride in her work because helping others gave her a joint. According to many people at the Sheriffs Office, she took joy that she was able to send help to people when they called for help. But instead, it was on sunday night when she needed help. She was at the department for 3 years. Mother, colleague and according to a lot of people, she dedicated her life to her job. As far as drunk driver. An injured 32 years old. Not the way the california Highway Patrol got a call from a witness about a man firing a gun from his car 5. 80, and seminary avenue in oakland. This is dash cam video from the witnesses car from march. 29th. The chp arrested the man they say fired the shots. They say dominic, Jerome Taylor was driving drunk when they arrested him. In the south bay. No criminal charges have been filed after an 11 yearold girl was killed. By a suspected hit and by suspected dui driver in cupertino. Investigators say the girl was one of 4 kids standing on a sidewalk on foothill and Stevens Creek boulevard last month when a pickup truck plowed into them. The other kids are aged 8, 7, 4, and theyre ok, the suspected driver was identified as he was allegedly high with crashed into them. He did bail out of jail last week and remains out of custody. Detectives are waiting for a toxicology report to be completed. Staying in the south bay man accused of shooting to San Jose Police officers is facing attempted murder charges. New Court Documents reveal that Kevin Briones showed up to a San Jose Hotel to see a woman that he used to be in a relationship with. Yeah, really hard it goes going to get see that a shootout. 2 officers shot one of them with just a year of experience on the force. The suspect Kevin Angelo Briones reportedly shot several times. We dont us is charged with 2 counts of attempted murder on the police officers. The Police Report says the woman briones reportedly showed up for is a Domestic Violence survivor. And says her during this had a previous relationship, 3 young kids were at the hotel with the woman at the time of the shooting. What we had was an armed, dangerous felon showing up in the middle of the night. Police say officers stopped onus from possibly hurting the woman and the kids nights events offer a stark reminder. Of the solemn oath they take to protect and serve our city this is a felony, which means if hes convicted, these charges could put him in prison for life. Yeah, it is. I think pretty bad for that information. But the city and for seal, he says he and his wife now are worried that staying at the hotel was not a good. This week is wildfire preparedness week and authorities are hosting a series of events across california to raise awareness on monday. Officials were discussing how theyre preparing for the 2024 fire year and going through the ways that you could help protect yourself against the threat of wildfires. Now we know theres a proposal for a mile long portion to close for traffic for good by early 2026. As part of a project to protect the citys western shore from rising sea levels. Last week, San Franciscos land use and Transportation Committee advanced a plan to close most of whats known as the great highway extension between slow to skyline boulevard for decades. Erosion has eaten away at the beach and blocks between the ocean and this section of the great highway cleaning sand off the roadway has become a constant problem, especially after winter storms. There are also frequent closures of this section of the great highway. More than a decade ago. San francisco develop a longterm plan to deal with Climate Change and erosion along the citys western edge. Closing this portion of the great highway has been under consideration ever since in place of the roadway. The city wants to build a network of trails a plaza and possibly a staircase leading down to the beach. But the plan is not without problems. That would need to be addressed for one of the main entrance to the San Francisco zoo is along this section of the great highway. If it closes a smaller entrance near 47th avenue would need to be redesigned. All right. For neighbors we talked to on tuesday were in favor of the plan, noting that the erosion problem is getting worse. Think its always fact further down the park. Theyre not going to close at us. Boy, the time plan will still need approval from the San Francisco board of supervisors. They are set to discuss the issue later this year. That was Charles Clifford reporting for us.
